Free parking! Near town and shopping. The Food Boutique got me going for the day. Stop by for the veggie bistro sandwich with egg, spinach, tomatoes, on Texas toast. And the yogurt with honey was delicious and nutritious! Don't forget your coffee or tea and you are ready for your Chicago adventure. You will hear sirens from time to time, it's near a hospital.

"perfect for what our family needed"
We were looking for an inexpensive room for a 5 day family vacation. We left every morning by 9 and retuned around 9. This hotel was exactly what our family needed! Hotel is in the process of being remodeled. Pool was closed, which was fine because we didn't have time to swim with all the other fun stuff we had planned! Breakfast was perfect for our family, we wanted quick and easy--fruit, hard boiled eggs, cereal, muffins, waffles, toast. Free parking was nice, still paid to park everywhere but with the great room rate we still saved over $1,000 by not staying downtown.

"Convenient, Polite, and Affordable"
We recently stayed at the Lake Shore Hotel during a recent overnight trip to Chicago and after reading some negative reviews, we were hesitant. Upon arriving to the hotel, I could see what some reviewers were basing their claims off of - the building looked a bit run down, there was scaffolding around most of the rooms, the pool was under construction etc. While the hotel does not look impressive upon first glance however, it was an enjoyable and simple stay. The room and bathroom were clean and served their purpose, the hotel sits right on the Lake and the staff was incredibly friendly. The hotel also runs a free shuttle downtown into the city making travel and city visits a breeze. The bottom line - if you're looking for a 5-star hotel experience and the best that Chicago has to offer, look elsewhere (and pay quite a bit more). However, if you're looking for a reliable, no frills and affordable hotel, Lake Shore should provide you with what you need.

"Awesome views and location."
Great location! Spectacular floor to ceiling views. Walking distance to Grant Park, Roosevelt station a few blocks away, bus stop at front door. Great neighborhood restaurants, Go Grocer entrance in the lobby, Trader Joes, Jewel-Osco, Walgreens,Target, and movie theater all within walking distance. Safe neighborhood, secure building. 3 bedroom/ 2 1/2 bath, plenty of room for six adults. Love having a full kitchen and laundry room for a week long stay. 7th floor has pretty decent workout room, vending machines, outdoor pool and grills. We stayed for 7 days and this location was perfect for everything we wanted to do. I highly recommend getting a multi day metro card. We rarely waited longer than 10 minutes for a bus outside the front door. Taxis always available as well. The people we rented from provided great information about the apartment before we arrived and were good about responding to phone calls or email questions while we were there.

The staff was very helpful. We had to check bags before and after our stay due to our flight schedule. The staff pointed out some terrific restaurants within walking distance. The train station was within easy walking distance making a trip into downtown very easy.

The hotel was okay But the staff is what made the experience good Mrs. Smith the hotel manager extended genuine customer service. She accomidated my dads needs She gave us a tour of the restaurant PEARLS PLACE Made sure we were set for transportation services. In reference to PEARLS PLACE I could write a huge book about our dining experience. We stayed from Tuesday 07/07 to 07/10 and ate all of our meals there. I would fly to Chicago just to eat there again. Over all I can recommend .to increase the rating of the AMBER INN to family and friends. I am going to send a letter (not an Email) to Mrs. Smith thanking her for the hospitality she offered to us. PS they also own the BBQ restaurant right across the street. .

"Great place to stay while we were in Chicago!"
This is NOT Grand Hyatt, but if you want a hotel that is clean, staff is very friendly, it's very quiet at night, and you feel safe, this is very decent hotel. Yes, it is older and rooms are small, but if you are looking for CHEAP and to feel safe, this is very good deal. Again, you are not paying for luxury but place to lay your head and feel safe. The staff was always friendly and answered all our requests promptly. One staff member even helped me w/my iPhone settings that I didn't understand. WiFi also works perfect here. Rooms would probably be too small if with children, but just 2 people it was perfect. I love all the stores and people of friendly and cool stuff at cheap prices. There are some great restaurants close by as well, esp. at the mall across the street from main entrance to Chinatown. Nothing like yummy Chinese food after a great concert at 3 am!! As long as I'm not traveling w/family, I would stay there again!
