"I want to start by saying that this review has nothing to do with the staff, every single person we encountered was amazing, kind, and attentive. A special thank you to the team at the Katok restaurant in the Akumal resort, especially Oliva, Obdulia, Francisca, the chef who came out to greet us, and the captain waiter. Their service truly stood out and made us feel very welcome. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply affected by the food. During my stay, I got food poisoning twice, and the last time was extremely severe. I experienced fever, vomiting, chills, and diarrhea. I am still recovering from it. It was honestly very difficult to travel back home in that condition. I had a fever while flying and could not keep any food down due to how upset my stomach was. This was very disappointing, especially because everything else, particularly the staff, was so wonderful. I hope the resort takes this feedback seriously and reviews their food safety standards so that future guests do not go through the same experience. "

"Our week-long stay at the Bahia Principe Akumal was amazing. My only frustration was that the app can be improved with more information about where activities are taking place and brief descriptions of them. Also, the à la carte reservation process was frustrating. We shouldn't have to scramble every night furiously checking the app if a reservation happens to open up."

"Always easy to point out the negatives, but they are limited. Often out of pool towels, the ultra all inclusive has some odd exclusions. Just charge a bit more and include everything. Could use pool or beach attendants to avoid people reserving chairs. Cheapens the experience. Invest in big ice cubes for evening cocktails That said, the staff are great. Resort is beautiful. Great location. Food and drink are great. A mix of fun and high end cocktails. Cater very well to allergies. Peaceful, elegant, clean and quiet. Definitely go to this resort as one of the best (if not the best) in Tulum or Mayan Riviera."

"Everything was perfect! Jesus and his wife (owners) made us feel ar home where you can cook on the patio BBQ, use washer/dryer, … Everything is cleaned and very well take care of!"

"The host was very responsive, welcoming and professional. The condo is beautiful and comfortable. A few small things, the weather stripping on the front door is peeled back leaving an open gap that bugs can get in. The battery powered soap dispensers in the bathroom and kitchen are finicky and one of them was dead completely so we couldn’t use it. Other than the those very small things, the experience was once in a lifetime, the host is great, the price is affordable and the Tulum country club itself is safe and beautiful. 5/5 definitely recommend and hope to visit again someday. "
