I have stayed at this hotel almost every year, usually choosing between Dorsett and Dao, so I was particularly shocked by what I witnessed on this occasion. I became aware of a very serious situation involving a female guest who appeared extremely frightened and concerned for her safety following events that had occurred at the hotel. I was deeply concerned by the way her concerns were handled by the reception and other members of staff. Two members of the reception team appeared to remain focused on their screens rather than giving the guest their full attention, while several male members of staff surrounded her and appeared dismissive of her concerns. In particular, one member of the front-desk team was, in my view, extremely rude and dismissive towards a guest who was clearly distressed. Given the nature and seriousness of what the guest was reporting, I was extremely concerned that I did not see any appropriate safeguarding response or any apparent attempt to involve the police or other appropriate authorities. I appreciate that there may be information I was not aware of, but the manner in which the situation appeared to be handled was extremely troubling. What concerned me further was that, after the guest had left the reception area, members of the front-desk team appeared to laugh. In the circumstances, I found this completely inappropriate and very upsetting to witness. I will strongly reconsider whether I will stay here again.
