My 3 daughters and I arrived exhausted at midnight after a 17 hour drive. We got our access key from the office and quickly made our way (past inebriated people) into the tower. The interior of this place is old and dingy. We got to our unit and found the door had pry bar dents in it. When I put in the code and turned the handle, the entire locking hardware moved. It was so loose in the door that I could move it a 1/2” in all directions. I should have left right then but I thought maybe I could tighten it from the other side. We entered the tiny unit. I quickly realized that there was no way for me to fix it. My oldest daughter found the patio sliding door (ground floor) would not lock. It had a flimsy aluminum stop bars but even that would pop out because there was a missing screw where it was supposed to rest. At this point we left the unit as we realized it was not safe and could not be secured. We were inside 10 minutes max. It was the middle of the night and we had no place to stay. Fun. I notified the owners at 12:30am then spent the rest of our vacation messaging back and forth with them. They refused to refund our money. They lied saying the unit was secure even though I have video to prove otherwise. They even said there was a hair in the bed/bath implying we stayed when we absolutely did not. The owners are dishonest and go against VRBO’s promise of a secure stay. Do NOT stay here! It is NOT safe! I now have to go through VRBO for a refund. What a headache!
