"terrace of hotels"
the hotel was very easy to come and go from.in the middle of a long terrace of similar hotels it was like staying in a grand Georgian house with high ceilings and sash windows .The owners were very nice and chatty and our breakfast was one of the best I would rate it very highly.Lovely garden view from our window.

"Good Choice"
We took a taxi from the airport directly to this hotel (£21) and were welcomed by the reception staff who also offered to help us with our luggage. Check in was straightforward. The rooms we'd booked (City Rooms) were spacious with two large queen beds and warm, which is important since we went in December. The hotel provided courtesy toiletries (Elemis) and large fluffy towels, as well as tea/coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, and an ironing board/iron. We'd opted for board only which was fine as there are plenty of places to eat close by with a wide selection from coffee to a full meal. We can heartily recommend The White Hart which is directly opposite where the food was lovely and the service prompt and friendly. Just along from the hotel is a flight of steps - not for the faint-hearted - that lead directly to Edinburgh Castle or it's quite easily to walk on a slightly less taxing gradient to the Royal Mile. The hotel does boast a pool but disturbingly it's in the front window! We were slightly too body-conscious to make use of it although it was cold outside so probably wouldn't have anyway. There's a bar onsite where you can also have a warm drink. When we checked out the hotel was quite happy to store our luggage and when we returned to collect it they ordered us a taxi back to the airport.

"Fabulous location and great value"
A clean and well presented budget hotel in the heart of the city, right next to the rail station and a short walk to both the new and old towns of Edinburgh. The reception staff were really lovely and very helpful, upgrading me to a room with a view. The room I had was spacious, bright and spotlessly clean with a comfortable bed and a well appointed shower room. For such a central location it was also fantastically well insulated against noise and so very quiet indeed. Whilst the free WIFI was fast and reliable, one slight downside is that the room had only two power outlets / sockets and the position of these made them difficult to use with a laptop. Breakfast options appear limited (and perhaps a little pricey) so I chose to take breakfast at one of the many other places to eat near the hotel. Overall, great value and a great choice.

"Good facilities close to Edinburgh Centre "
The hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk from the Royal Mole in the University area of the city. This meant it was nice and quiet at night which is great if you have kids. We did find the standard family room a tight squeeze with our 11 and 13 year olds - if staying more than 2 night's or in the colder months it would be worth paying extra for a larger room. The pool is small - more for a splash around than a swim and same with the gym size but it was quiet when we went so it wasn't a problem. The staff were very courteous and helpful and the breakfast was very good value.
