The property was lovely and clean with high ceilings. There was some repair work going on the front entrance so a little messy but nothing too much to concern us. The staff at reception were lovely and helpful. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the window view from room 103 which just looked onto a square block. This wasn’t shown on any of the adveristed pictures so a bit misleading. However, it was lovely and quiet at nighttime for sleeping. Overall a lovely place and great position for exploring the city of Edinburgh.

Due to train strakes I arrived to the hotel really late and tired. The person who was at the desk was gentle and helpful, when I asked for a time frame to go from the hotel to the train station walking, he answered “10 minutes top” I went to bed. Woke up early, had a long shower, and checked how to get to the train station. I have planned 20 minutes to go there. I checked the map and… it was 20 minutes walking the time to get there. My trip had been a cascade of cancellations, delays, and waiting tomes. I was hoping for an easy walk to the station when I realised I needed to RUN!!! I don’t think the person at the desk was bad-intentioned. It is on those details of empathy where the difference lives.

Lovely rooms, although they don’t have telephones in them. If you need anything from reception or housekeeping, you can’t call & have to go downstairs to speak to someone.
