The staff at this property was non-existent. There was no one at the property on staff at any time that I was in the building. Housekeeping was poor at best, with only towels being replaced daily. Trash was not emptied, the bed was not made, and soap was not restocked. The mobile app used to unlock the front door and rooms was also buggy. The front door took way to many attempts to be let into the building. Overall, I would not stay at this location again.

The automatic check-in process didn't work. The key that was sent to my phone didn't work once we finally got in. There was no receptionist so getting an actual person to help was very difficult. Once we got someone the staff stated they were having issues migrating to the new automatic system. It is understandable that there will be bumps in the road while migrating to a new software, but they should have a receptionist at the front ready to help until the migration works seamlessly. There was a very nice K cup coffee machine with several great options....but no water in the coffee machine. Very nice hotel, just need staff present.

The check in wouldn’t work online, after multiple attempts. I never got sent the code for my OpenKey app so could not register or make an account, which was required for access to the building. The customer service voicemail was full when I called. I was essentially locked out of the building until I finally got ahold of someone, after multiple phone calls. Then they sent me a code via text and hung up on me before I could confirm that it worked. It did not and I had to call back again. Once inside the hotel, we had them make us a hard copy of the key since the phone app seemed unreliable. The app did not work for our door to our room. And once inside our room, the bathroom door would not slide shut and all of the towel and toilet paper fixtures fell off the wall as soon as they were touched. Also, the amenities package you have to purchase the day of, does no good once housekeeping leaves for the day. Check in was at 5 for us, the bar was closed by then so we could not redeem the free drink passes unless we did so in the morning before checkout at 11. Not worth the money or stress.

2/5 Poor

The hotel is cute enough; the location fine (not a baseball fan myself, but central area to the northern neighborhoods of Chicago); the bed comfy and the bathroom new and clean. These were not the issues. What was the problem the utter lack of service. First, there is no staff at the hotel; all is done remotely. This does not have to be a problem in and of itself (although it does make for a highly impersonal and weird experience), but the problem was that no one was available as needed. We were locked out of the hotel due to a failure with virtual key on phone and had to call someone who tried to help us remotely navigate lockboxes, codes, doors that did not open .... What made matters worst and want to warn all who are considering this hotel about, is that in order to check in remotely and obtain the virtual key one has to sign up for an "Amenity Package" which has a daily surcharge of $40. The "package" included complimentary drinks (I ordered and waited 1.5 hours for ours to show up; they never came before we had to leave), use of peloton bikes and yoga mats (that had to be arranged remotely as well) and the use of an additional key card to the room. Considering the very poor service, actually non-service we received, I asked management to have the fee waived. They refused. All to say, beware peeps!

Liked: Beautiful rooms, and the area is great. Did Not Like: No staff at the hotel, everything was done over the phone. It was a huge complicated mess to check in because something was wrong with how the card was entered and having to call and text in the middle of Chicago was not easy or enjoyable. Saw another couple outside the hotel trying to check in that were having similar issues. My "Key" (electronic key via phone app) didn't work a few times while trying to get into the building. And a friend got locked in the bathroom when the sliding barn door fell a little off the track. Luckily we were there to fix it and get her out.
