When is the best time to go to Bakkar?

The best time to visit Bakkar is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is at its mildest and the days are long. During this period, you'll experience the famous Midnight Sun, where daylight extends late into the evening, sometimes even through the night. This allows for more time to explore the city and its surroundings without feeling rushed. Temperatures are typically comfortable, ranging from 10°C to 15°C, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking, sightseeing, and boat tours. This time of year is great for families, as the milder weather makes it easier to enjoy attractions like the Laugardalslaug geothermal pool or the Reykjavík Zoo and Family Park. Couples will also appreciate the long evenings for romantic strolls along the waterfront or enjoying dinner with a view. For those interested in whale watching, summer is also peak season, with various species frequenting the Faxaflói Bay just off the coast.

Top Bakkar Hotel Reviews

Fosshotel Reykjavik

10/10 Excellent

"We enjoyed our stay at Fosshotel. The breakfast buffet was amazing! Food was fresh and delicious. Our room does not have an air-con but it has window shutters that you can open to allow cool air in. Beds and pillows are comfortable after the long day tour. Amenities are acceptable. Staff are friendly and approachable. You dont have to go anywhere as Bus station 12 is conveniently located at the side of the hotel to wait for the tour buses. The hotel is at walkable distance to the nearest Bonus (Skipholt) grocery store to buy snacks stash for tours."

Exeter Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Staff was very helpful. Front desk especially so. Ordering cabs - restaurant suggestions and just general information. Parking was a challenge with only 8 spots available but once you navigate the Parka App, wasn't that big of a hassle. Beds were move of a queen size than a double so that was nice. And the USB ports were a nice touch."
