    Iceland Hotel Guide

Are you looking to take a trip to somewhere new and different? If so, then you may want to consider Iceland as a possible destination. Not only is this an exciting place to visit and explore, but if you travel at the right times of the year, you can find some of the best cheap hotel deals in Iceland, thus saving money on your reservations for the trip.

Contrary to popular belief, Iceland is actually only made up of about 10 percent ice in the form of glaciers. The rest of the country has a surprisingly mild climate considering its northern location on the globe. Part of Iceland's mild climate can be attributed to the nearby Atlantic Gulf Stream, which frequently brings warm air from the south up to Iceland. Therefore, depending on when you choose to travel, the country can be either quite cold or rather mild in temperature.

There is a lot to see and do in Iceland, so you will probably need to book your stay for at least a week in order to get a good amount of exploring done. Among the most famous sites in the entire country that most travellers make it a point to check out is The Blue Lagoon. This is one of just a few geothermal spas located in the world; the water temperatures there are toasty, even during the coldest months of the year. Not to mention, the mineral-rich water is great for the skin. This destination, located between the Keflavik Airport and Reykjavik, is great for people of all ages.

Iceland is also a great place for those who enjoy outdoor activities, particularly hiking and ice climbing. Hikers should be careful of the notoriously rough and unforgiving terrain, however. Most trails are not suitable for beginners!

Overall, there is so much to see and do for people of all ages in Iceland. As you begin planning your trip, consider searching for the top Iceland hotels and Iceland hotel deals. This way, you can locate the lowest rates and prices for your rooms and have more money to spend on fun activities. Depending on when you travel, you can take advantage of some wonderful Iceland hotel packages and land a special discount on hotels in Iceland. Rooms tend to go fast, though, so be sure to book that cheap Iceland hotel deal as soon as you find it!

This hotel was close to all downtown sites, restaurants and main roads. The staff was incredibly helpful, friendly & willing to give directions and information. The room was unique, colorful and very warm. There is no on site parking if you rent a car like I did but there is plentiful parking around the streets. Overall a fun stay at a great hotel

    "Good Hotel, excellent central location"
Nice hotel, excellent location, comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff and very good breakfast. Only issues related to Wi Fi and Telephone, the former was very intermittent and the latter broke and was not fixed despite requests to do so. Overall though offers very goods value.

    "Happy with our choice"
Center Hotel Thingholt was terrific. The staff was exceptional; always ready to help you or get what you need. The hotel was modern and clean and well run. We enjoyed the Spa amenities. Breakfast was ample, with breads, meat, cheese, yogurt, eggs, bacon, sausage, fish, coffee, tea, juices etc... We booked a standard room - said to be a double bed, but it was a Queen size. The bed was comfortable- equips with 4 pillows and duvets. The room was on the small side, yet comfortable.

"Basic Hotel Close to Many Interesting Sites"
Clean and functional hotel with shared bathroom and wireless only in common area, but that was as expected. Wireless did perform well. No problems with getting into shared facilities when needed. Reasonably priced considering the area. Outstanding location! Converted schoolhouse with interesting history and book in room describing points of interest in the area. No problems with check in.

"Great hotel in the middle of nowhere"
We stayed for 3 nights and it's such an idyllic setting. The access is good despite there being at least a foot of snow on the ground. The rooms were very clean and had great views, especially our bathroom. Breakfast is basic, but better than expected and there are good communal areas. The only downside was our bathroom had a smell of rotten eggs, which we couldn't pin down, but was easily rectified by opening a window. The location is perfect for exploring the south coast, with us venturing as far as Jökulsárlón to visit ice caves and back in a day. It's also just 90 min from the geysers and waterfalls to the north.
