    Iceland Hotel Guide

Are you looking to take a trip to somewhere new and different? If so, then you may want to consider Iceland as a possible destination. Not only is this an exciting place to visit and explore, but if you travel at the right times of the year, you can find some of the best cheap hotel deals in Iceland, thus saving money on your reservations for the trip.

Contrary to popular belief, Iceland is actually only made up of about 10 percent ice in the form of glaciers. The rest of the country has a surprisingly mild climate considering its northern location on the globe. Part of Iceland's mild climate can be attributed to the nearby Atlantic Gulf Stream, which frequently brings warm air from the south up to Iceland. Therefore, depending on when you choose to travel, the country can be either quite cold or rather mild in temperature.

There is a lot to see and do in Iceland, so you will probably need to book your stay for at least a week in order to get a good amount of exploring done. Among the most famous sites in the entire country that most travellers make it a point to check out is The Blue Lagoon. This is one of just a few geothermal spas located in the world; the water temperatures there are toasty, even during the coldest months of the year. Not to mention, the mineral-rich water is great for the skin. This destination, located between the Keflavik Airport and Reykjavik, is great for people of all ages.

Iceland is also a great place for those who enjoy outdoor activities, particularly hiking and ice climbing. Hikers should be careful of the notoriously rough and unforgiving terrain, however. Most trails are not suitable for beginners!

Overall, there is so much to see and do for people of all ages in Iceland. As you begin planning your trip, consider searching for the top Iceland hotels and Iceland hotel deals. This way, you can locate the lowest rates and prices for your rooms and have more money to spend on fun activities. Depending on when you travel, you can take advantage of some wonderful Iceland hotel packages and land a special discount on hotels in Iceland. Rooms tend to go fast, though, so be sure to book that cheap Iceland hotel deal as soon as you find it!

    "Great Hotel"
The CenterHotel Thingholt was a great base to stay. All the staff are friendly and go the extra mile to make the stay great. Rooms where small but perfectly adequate, nice, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice for all tastes. Nice bar area to relax in. We had a room at the rear of the hotel and this was quieter than those at the front maybe. We would certainly book this hotel again if we returned to Reykjavik and would be happy to recomend this hotel to friends and family.

"Perfect for a holiday in Reykyavik"
This was our 2nd stay at this hotel, it has everything you need and is usually one of the first to have guests dropped off at after a long day on a tour, much welcomed after a return trip from seeing the Northern Lights in the early hours. The staff are fantastic , they will help with anything. Very enjoyable stay again.

From checkin to checkout, staff was friendly and accommodating. The higher level front of hotel rooms had good view of the town, sea and mountain, sunrise. Beds were comfortable, rooms clean and quiet, happy hour and breakfast in Exec lounge were excellent. Would definitely stay there again. Only drawback was location a bit far from downtown, taxi ride about $25USD

    "where to stay in Iceland"
The hotel was fine, but it was on the outskirts of town. The rental car company's office was supposed to be a shuttle bus away from the terminal, but turned out to be further than where the shuttle bus dropped you office. It was dark, and dragging luggage around the airport parking lot was terrible. By the time we reached the car rental office; and although there were 4 employees working, 50 people were waiting for their cars, the line was not movinh, and people in line were sitting on the floor asleep. After an hour of that, we dragged our luggage back across the black, dark parking lot and got a cab to take us for an hour long, expensive ride to our hotel. We never got a car. All other car rental offices were empty as those passengers were able to get through their line quickly and easily. I would recommend staying in the heart of Rekyavik at a hotel that has shuttle service and from there on, take tours or walk to local sites of interest. I wasted money on a car I never got

    "Cabin-type feel hotel"
We stayed 1 night at this hotel and really enjoyed it. Loved how each room had their own entrance (we were in and out several times to look for the Northern Lights... which we saw twice that night). Great distance away from all light pollution, yet still close to some restaurants and the Myvatn bath. My only complaint would be the VERY thin walls. We could hear a man using the restroom through the shared wall. Also was woken many times in the night by other travelers talking (it goes straight through!). Breakfast was awesome, as well as watching the cows get milked. Very homey feel and we enjoyed it.
