Liberty University Graduation Stay
The home was perfect! We came for my husbands graduation. The drive to the graduation was not bad! The views from the home were amazing such a relaxing place! The hospitality was beyond my expectations! Would come back!

Family Vacation
Stayed here a few days as part of larger vacation with my girlfriend, mother and dogs. The property is in a great location and only minutes from everything we like to do. The house is in a very quiet neighborhood and had lots of well thought out extras, including for pets. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect Get Away
Our stay at Windy Knoll was magical. The home was so well stocked with everything we could possibly need and more during our stay. It was so clean and so gorgeous, and the view was just amazing. We are already planning our next trip back to Windy Knoll and can’t wait!

Quick Family Getaway
My family decided to take a quick three-night trip to escape work and just relax and this was definitely the place to do it! We enjoyed the gorgeous views from the home and visits every night from the white-tail deer. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook a nice meal and enjoy our relaxing weekend. The host was extremely responsive and helpful. We all enjoyed ourselves, including our two dogs who loved the acreage to explore.

Beautiful Mountain Country Getaway
The host Wendy was very kind and quick to respond to us. This beautiful vacation cottage home has great views and awesome for seeing the stars and moon out the huge windows! The cottage was incredibly clean, organized and comfortable. It is ideally located to all that the Blue Ridge Mountains and Central VA have to offer. Worked out great for us to stay here as we have family that live on both sides of Afton Mountain that we were visiting.

Look no further
You never stop being impressed with this property. It is in the most beautiful setting with views from every room. The furnishings are lovely and comfortable and no detail has been missed. I have never stayed anywhere with a better stocked kitchen. There are full sized bath products and fluffy white towels in the bathrooms. Even the closets are decorated with pictures! Gorgeous artwork in every room. Large front porch for evening beverages and watching the wild life. Stay here. Don’t look any further.

Beautiful stay in the mountains.
We had the most enjoyable stay in the mountains of Virginia. Perfectly situated for an easy trip to Charlottesville, a hike in Shenandoah national park, a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and so many wineries and breweries. The house itself was fantastic on a beautiful piece of property. So clean, comfortable, with fantastic views. I couldn’t ask for more. Great hosts.

Wonderful "Windy Knoll"
Windy Knoll is a most relaxing get-away! The house is always very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked. There is loads of information on hikes in the area, restaurants, and the wineries and breweries along Rte. 151. The porch is wonderful with beautiful views! If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing place to spend some free time, check out " Windy Knoll" .

Beautiful and just what we needed!
This was our second stay at Windy Knoll. Last year, we never left the house! This year we did do some R and R but also did some sightseeing. It's impossible not to relax here. Our favorite place? The front porch and our dogs agree. The front yard is beautiful to look at but also great for a good dog walk any time of day. The little back porch was nice for grilling, sitting, and watching the trees sway in the wind. A wonderful place to stay!

Windy Knoll is a Gem!
My husband, myself, and our dog stayed at Windy Knoll for a week and it was a lovely home and property. You could clearly see the effort and thought that went into every aspect of the home and that the owners truly care about your comfort and experience. The house is outfitted nicely and the kitchen is very functional and well supplied. The view from the front porch is beautiful. We saw 4-6 deer grazing on the lawn every day, morning and evening, and even got a visit from a fox! There is plenty to do in the area as well. Wineries, Meaderies, hiking, horse back riding, art, etc., and Charlottesville is an easy half hour drive away. My only complaint is the lack of a large and comfortable bed. The biggest bed available was about the size of a queen and not particularly comfortable, but the full was comfortable and there were twin size beds downstairs that we did not try. Not bad enough to knock off a star though. We will certainly be back!

Our favorite rental!
My wife and I loved Windy Knoll. We’ve stayed at dozens of rentals the past 25 years and this rates #1. It’s beautifully furnished and very clean. The location is perfect and the view from the front porch is stunning. Such a peaceful setting. We will return.

Another relaxing stay!
We thoroughly enjoyed our second visit to Windy Knoll, and will definitely be back. Setting so peaceful but so easy to get places. Saw a production at the American Shakespeare Center in Staunton, had a very informative and interesting guide to the Camera Heritage Museum. Visited the caverns at Grottoes, took a great trail ride at Star B Stables, and loved sampling their excellent ciders at Albemarle Ciderworks. So much more left to do!

Great space, hated to leave
The house is great, well stocked and very clean. Wendy is a great host! Very comfortable place. We didn't want to leave the front porch! The driveway nights at night are a nice touch. Enjoyed seeing a family of deer crossing the open yard. There's a lot to see within 30 minutes, from the 4000 ft long RxR tunnel and walking trail, Blue Ridge Drive, hiking trails and historic towns. We'd love to return.

Beautiful property
Great location. Short drive to the Blue Ridge Tunnel trail (which I highly recommend). If you want a quiet retreat, this is the perfect place. Amenities for shopping are a little drive (10-20 min). Also found a great little worship place called Yeshua’s House of Prayer and boy does the worship team and pastor Steve Wolcott bring it. Worth the drive to Raphibe experience the views. Home had everything needed for a visit. We stayed a full week and saw wildlife multiple times a day. Would book again without hesitation.

Spectacular Views!
Windy Knoll was absolutely beautiful place to stay. Everything was clean, nice, and had so many amenities. The porch and the views it offers in the mornings and evenings are spectacular. Each evening offered deer in the meadow area as well as a black bear on the lane coming in one evening The hosts were easy to reach by text if you had a question. Wonderful place to stay! We would definitely go back.

Perfect family time
We rented this beautiful property for our son’s graduation. Wendy and Mike were very easy to reach and thought of every detail! Bug spray , laundry detergent, paw wipes etc. it was further out from Charlottesville than we wanted to stay but ended up being perfect balance between festivities and a place to have peaceful family time. Great place to stay!

Perfect again
This is our fourth time at Windy Knoll and it was again a splendid stay. Although comfortable previously, the wood floors in the living space and a freshly painted kitchen made the space even more inviting. Since we last visited we discovered Staunton, Virginia and several fine restaurants which added to those in Charlottesville and the local wineries and breweries make this location a great food experience. We shall return again.

Just what we needed!!!!
This property and house was perfect for our relaxing getaway. I almost hate to give it such a great rating because it will just get that much more popular and hard to book in the future. It is the only rental that I hope to stay at again. all of the other rentals I’ve stayed at over the years have been nice enough, but we never had the desire to book again, not the case with this beautiful mini paradise.

A home away from home.
My family had a smashing time at Windy Knoll. The house is very welcoming, clean, and well equipped. Little one had so much fun, it was hard to leave. The loft was the favorite part of the house, as well as the streams. Nature offered a variety of “toys” and plenty of entertainment. Our pup also had a blast running down the hill and fetching balls. This was our first time, but not the last one.

Amazing fall weekend in Afton at Windy Knoll
We had a great time at Windy Knoll. The views of the Blue Ridge mountains from the home and the awesome front porch were amazing. The home was clean, comfy, and spacious and the kitchen was well appointed; we cooked some great meals during our family weekend getaway. Windy Knoll is very easy to get to, just a few minutes off the interstate, but also very secluded. There are great wineries, breweries, and cideries near by (Veritas Vineyards is very close and a great way to enjoy an afternoon in the Blue Ridge). We will sure to be back for future trips to the area.

We loved staying at Windy Knoll and did not want to leave. The house was in perfect condition and very clean. Very private with a great view. Beautiful home in country setting with spacious yard for our pup
The house was clean and stocked with the simple things you would need when staying some place. The front porch was beautiful and you could watch deer, birds and bunnies play each day. The house had big, bright windows and was nice and clean. The owners even sent an email with what was going on in the county that month. The house was also stocked with local info of what to do and hiking trails ect. We would certainly highly recommend and comeback.

My friend and I brought our two dogs for a self proclaimed "Ladies and Their Dogs Vacation". We arrived on Monday and unpacked and we never left Windy Knoll until we packed up and left for home on Friday. We absolutely loved the house and the surroundings. The porch was our favorite place to be for morning coffee, talking, watching our dogs play, and looking at the beautiful meadow and skyline. This was the best escape from our daily lives. We highly recommend it if you are in need of some peace, quiet, and finding time to enjoy the beauty of nature. Oh, and our dogs loved it too! I can't say enough about Windy Knoll! The views are absolutely amazing and this home is immaculately cleaned! We had plenty of kitchen pantry items, cookware, personal care items, fresh towels, DVDs, games, tourist information, and space! Wendy thought of everything we could ever need. The location is close to lots of towns and attractions and close to Charlottesville. My family was so comfortable and we made lots of memories. I can't rate this rental any higher! A+++++

Southern Comfort in my bones
Wonderful presentation. It was the little things that showed our hosts cared. Dog toys, towels for dogs, rooms decorated with a theme, gates for the porch to keep pets contained. Immaculate living space and the porch is ready made to see the sun rise on the mountain and night fall gradually take over. The deer are regular visitors and in this case, with their fawns. A place that is easy to get to but hard to leave.

Beautifully set down a country lane the house had everything we needed and more (coffee, filters, dog bags, Tupperware). One of the cleanest houses we have ever rented, beds super comfy AND dog friendly! We hope to be back soon :-)

Windy Knoll is a great place to energize!
The setting for Windy Knoll is very bucolic. The owners have added so many little niceties to the house making it most comfortable. The house is always immaculate. Windy Knoll is just a short distance from Skyline Drive and wonderful hiking. It is also in the heart of wine country. A wonderful getaway!

This is our fourth time during the pandemic that we have spent several days here. We love the location and the house and most certainly will come again. Wendy communicates well, the property is spotless and generously furnished.
