"Amazing service, rent a car"
The service at the Viceroy is out of this world, every time we thought it couldn't get any better it did. I have extensive allergy issues and the chef and wait staff went so far out of their way to ensure I was well fed! The one downside was the bed was not all that comfortable but the rooms were large and clean and the private pool was to die for. The room service was terrible, as it is at most hotels, but the food at the restaurants was the best I've ever had and eating dinner on the beach with your toes in the sand can't be beat! Definitely rent a car, the Viceroy is out of the way (as are most of the hotels in this area) so if you don't have wheels you will be paying a lot for really awful taxis. Visit the Tulum ruins and beach and Chichen Itza, but be sure to save a day to just lay around on the hotel beach in your own cabana with people asking you if you need anything every hour!

"5 star resort"
Overall an excellent vacation spot if you are looking for total relaxation. The resort was empty with most of the rooms being part of a time share. Rooms and grounds were meticulous. Food and service was excellent. Only complaint was the communication around the food that was offered each night. You can order off the menu any night you want but they don't tell you that when they are offering the various buffets. Very quiet, only live entertainment was 1 hour during dinner. Not the place to stay if you are looking for any type of night life. The lobby bar was very small with no type of music offered. The beach is small, but a lot of rocks washed ashore over the 5 days we were there and the water was rough when we were there in mid-November. There were plenty of beach chairs available and the employees couldn't do enough to make your day relaxing. I especially enjoyed the daily ice pops and fruit delivered to my chair! Beach bar service was also readily available. You can walk pretty far in either direction on the soft white sand, a lot of greenery and no high rise hotels. It's definitely a great place to visit!

"Beautiful and Comfortable Fairmont Mayakoba"
A beautiful hotel, with exceptionally comfortable rooms and beds, plus excellent service. The Mayakoba area consists of four resorts that are well secured and share shuttle services between resorts and recreational areas (beaches, golf, tennis, etc.). For top notch service, beautiful ambience, and an abundance of fun activities in a safe envronment, the Fairmont Mayakoba is a must do.

"A Truly Elegant Resort"
In April, my husband and I had the absolute pleasure of staying at The Belmond Maroma. From the moment of our arrival, this resort anticipated and fulfilled our every need and more. From the welcoming margaritas on arrival to offering me a hair tie from a beautiful wooden box at dinner on a windy evening, the staff could not have made us feel more special. They truly made us feel that it was their pleasure to be of service to us.

"Simply Amazing!"
We stayed here on our honeymoon and could not have been happier. The staff were amazing, so attentive, friendly and helpful - particularly our concierge Paulina. Our stay was outside peak time which had the down side that not all restaurants were open every night so unfortunately missed out on Autor which we were particularly looking forward to, however the upside was that we had almost every bar and restaurant to share with only a small number of guests. We ate at Piaf at Paulina's suggestion and were blown away by the food - enjoyed it more than the 3 Michelin starred restaurant we ate at only a few days earlier in NYC. Our Zen garden room was quiet and secluded, with beautiful pools, restaurants etc. nearby all in the midst of a jungle surround and only a short shuttle ride (which we never had to wait for) to the other pools, restaurants etc by the beautiful beach. We actually spent most of our time by the various pools as even the food and cocktails available poolside were fantastic and never a wait for service. It is the most expensive place we've ever stayed but worth every cent and we will definitely be back !

"Luxury a galore with a few black spots."
This is my 4th time at Las Velas and once again they delivered almost to perfection, a few spots during our stay. The hotel was entering the low season and the occupancy was very low, but somehow during the first 5 nights we stayed at an Ocean View suite. Not much of an ocean view and more a pool view, did not complaint about it, but the room description was deceiving. The last two days paid for an Ocean Front, Private pool suite, and we got a room with a partial ocean view, since we were also looking at the roof of one of the restaurants. In addition, and to my surprise, the two qeen beds were significantly smaller than the other room with no view. At some point I even thought about asking the hotel staff to move me to the first room as it was more comfortable and since we were at the beach or pool most of the day, the view at the end was not as important. In summary, on a hotel were all the interactions are scripted to deliver a superior service, I feel than on an almost empty Hotel, if the staff was really looking to deliver a wow factor, they should have given a bit more thought on the room assignment, after all we were repeating customer paying the modest amount of $1200 a night.
