Hotel Chicago Illinois Medical District

This hotel was easily accessible to an event attending. There were not a lot of options for restaurants in the immediate vicinity and when you are not familiar with the area it is hard to locate restaurants.

Best Western Grant Park Hotel

1100 S Michigan Ave, Chicago - Map
We were prepared for the worst after reading the reviews but were pleasantly surprised when we saw our room (located on the 8th floor). I suspect our room was newly renovated, since everything in the washroom looked new. The room was decently clean, bed was very comfortable. Our room was a nice place to relax after a long day of out and about. The 8th floor is probably newly renovated comparing to some other floor hallways that look significantly more outdated. The walls are thin so we could hear the neighbor/hallway in our room, as well as the siren and train sounds outside. The railroads are not far from across the street, so you will definitely hear the sound of trains/subway in your room. We couldn't hear any construction sound on the 8th floor, but could definitely hear the chaos when we were at the lobby. The lobby doesn't look luxurious or anything, since it's in the midst of construction. There is not much space in the lobby area, but they used plywood to have a clear area as walkway and a reception area. The staff were very friendly, and smooth check-in and check-out process. They also happily stored our luggage before checking-in and after checking-out. I can see the hotel being a hit-or-miss depending on where your room is (i.e. if it's close to where they are doing construction) and the condition of your room (i.e. new or outdated). Not a luxurious hotel but if you are just looking for a place to relax/sleep at night, the location makes it a great choice.

Red Roof Inn Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile - Chicago Hotels
Rating: 2.0 Stars

Red Roof Inn Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile

162 East Ontario Street, Chicago - Map
The Red Roof was okay. There was no bellman and the elevator was small so it was a bit cramped. Staff was always very pleasant and took care of a tiny issue I had right away. ( dead batteries in a remote). Ice machine was empty on a couple of floors so it took a bit to find some. Location was very good, neighborhood was good, and lots of restaurants close by. I would recommend it.

"Classic small down motel in the middle of the city"
Very nice motel. The parking was a real plus. The bed was a bit hard, but that is fairly normal for a hotel. The room lacked a coffee maker, which my wife missed. the staff was attentive and very friendly.

"Front desk help"
When we checked in the 2 at the front desk asked what we wanted to do in Chicago. We told her our plans and when we came back in 1/2 hr we had vouchers waiting. Nikita and Eran were the 2 that helped us.

I have never been to Chicago and wanted to stay out side the city. This hotel was nice the room was great. The breakfast bar was a great variety. The hotel staff was very helpful and we asked for recommendations and help getting to downtown. I will stay there again if we ever go back.
