“Great place to vacation”
This vacation was everything we hoped it would be. Augusta Bay is a small hotel so the swimming pool, beach and restaurant were all nearby. The staff was friendly and helpful. Everything at the hotel was well maintained. All rooms faced toward the water. Thanks to an excellent chef, the food at their restaurant was the best we had anywhere, but all the food we had at any of the eating establishments was good. Although the beach directly in front of the hotel was quite narrow and was covered at high tide, there was a beautiful white sand beach with no buildings and very few people, just a short walk away. Augusta Bay is located within an easy walk of two other hotel restaurants and a group of locally operated snack bars that serve Bahamian food. It's only a 30 minute walk from Georgetown. We felt very safe walking anywhere. All in all, we'd recommend Augusta Bay and Exhuma Island to anyone who wants to vacation in a safe, quiet, beautiful spot with a friendly, helpful staff.
“Luxury Accommodations at Very Reasonable Price”
We highly recommend Augusta Bay. The Inn had been recently renovated and no expense was spared. Rooms had a tropical theme and were lovely. Dining room was excellent and offered the best meals we had on the island. Inn is located directly on the beach and also has an attractive pool area. Staff were warm and friendly.
“I loved this place and can't wait to go back!!”
If you are looking for a beautiful, relaxing getaway this is it! The hotel was renovated in 2009 by owner Ian who you may see around the place- friendly to all. They did a great job with Tommy Bahama like furnishings & the beds were extremely comfortable. We stayed for 6 days and at a small place you get to know the staff. They were all friendly and willing to please. It is the Bahamas, so not everything moves at lightening speed and once you get in the mindset it's great. The hotel was more than willing to call a cab at any time, set up snorkeling or fishing trips, have the water taxi pick us up on their dock to go over to stocking island. It's $10 by cab to town. The continental breakfast was very good & enough for me. I much prefer this place to the Peace and Plenty because the rooms are much nicer and you have beach right off the pool. In town there is no beach. Every room has a covered porch great for reading and having the ocean breeze without the sun. You could walk right down to the beach and switch back to the pool ( and have rum punch) The hotel had kayaks available.. I have been to many islands and here it is safe to walk at night, the people are friendly and the water is the prettiest anywhere. Stocking Island is one of my favorite beaches in the world. Eddie Edgewaters is a good local restaurant with live music on Mondays and the 2 Turtles has live music on Fridays. The Peace & Plenty has a nice pool bar with a fun bartender "Mr. Livation".
“Charming and comfortable”
Very home-like atmosphere. Comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful and never minded driving us into town in their shuttle. Although the dining room was closed while we were there, I believe it was only temporary. But they did serve a nice continental breakfast and resteraunts were right next door. It was especially nice being right on the beach!
“Lots of charm”
Rooms are spacious. Great showers. Every room has a nice balcony that looks out to the water and pool. Breakfast is served daily in the dining area. Someone is always at the bar to get you your next rum drink. Friendly staff. We will definitely go back.
“Exuma's Best Hotel”
Augusta Bay is a small boutique hotel. The atomsphere is inviting. Our room was very comfortable (the beds were amazing). Every room has an awesome view of the water. The lounge/ bar area is quaint. We ate at the hotel on several occassions and the food was absolutley delicious. The location is superb if you want to be near Georgetown. If you are wanting to see the island, it is worth it to rent a car for a day or two. We will definitley be back to visit Augusta Bay.
“Fantastic views, friendly staff, excellent choice.”
The Augusta Bay is a small hotel with only 16 rooms, but the views are all excellent, the rooms were very clean, well outfitted, and extra comfy. Everything in the Exumas was fairly expensive. The hotel meals were no exception, but they were delicious...the chefs were very good. Georgetown is about a 30 or 40 minute walk away, or a short taxi ride. Hamburger Beach or Chat N Chill were a short water taxi or long Kayak ride away. There were tons of empty, beautiful beaches to explore, including along the Atlantic. Everyone is super friendly, and the hotel staff...even though you sometimes detected a slight "not thrilled with their job" attitude, were very fun, and honestly happy to try and make your visit excellent. The area was very safe, walking during the day felt safer than home, and at night was only slightly more worrying. Never felt threatened or worried about being robbed or anything like that. There are plenty of places to explore. Starfish, Stingrays, the occasional turtle, shark, or other sea creature. Lots of sand, sunshine, clear water and relaxation. If you are NOT looking for crowds and shopping...this is the beach location for you.
“The sercet jewel of the Bahamas!”
My first visit to the Bahamas, George Town, Exuma island; stayed at the Augusta Bay hotel, this 16 room B&B is quiet, restful, peaceful place, on the beach, beautifully maintained, excellent restaurant, comfortable well equipped rooms, free 24 hrs WiFi. I highly recommend reserving the Deluxe Ocean front room, the most beautiful bay-view one can imagine. Importantly, the staff at Augusta Bay made my stay felt like home! Special thanks to the manager Glendia, and staff surprised me with the best Happy Birthday ever! Also, special thanks to Natalie and Shantell.
“Loved, Loved, Loved!!!”
I absolutely loved the August Bay in Exuma! The hotel is small and intimate, so you don't have the over-crowded issues you do with larger hotels. The hotel I believe was recently remodeled, so it feels new and looks great. Everyone rooms has a pool/oceanview. I loved high tide when the water came right up to the stairs of the hotel property. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food in the dining room was good, but a little pricey. We learned after the first day that it's cheaper to eat elsewhere if we wanted to save a little money. The continental breakfast isn't much, but it will do if you want to save money. I'm not one to visit a place twice, but I plan on going back to Exuma and Augusta Bay was part of the reason. Two thumbs up!!
“Nice and quiet”
Clean and simple. Good food . Staff was great.
