“Perfect for a short break.”
We stayed here for 3 days in Feb 09. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. They called the room within 15 minutes of our arrival to check everything was to our satisfaction. It rained constantly whilst we were in SF so the staff found us plenty of indoor events to visit around the city. The weather certainly did not affect our stay. The hotel does feel a little dated but was very clean and the service certainly made up for it. Would stay here again and the location is perfect for all areas of the city.
“Nice old Hotel”
Great Value for the Price, Not a luxury Hotel but perfect for a downtown sightseeing trip or getaway. Simple Room analog TV, No AC but very clean and comfortable. Lots of places to eat and drink within walking distance, short walk to Chinatown, bit longer walf to FishermansWharf. Hotel Front desk staff was very helpful with directions and recommendations.
“Clean and comfortable, a great staff, in a good location”
The Hotel was impressively clean and the bathroom very modern for a hotel in such an old building with such character. The location was good for sightseeing. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to take care of me on my stay. Highly recommended for the price.
“Great Hotel Close to Everything”
Although the rooms were a little small, I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms and the hotel. I also felt that the staff was extremely helpful. There are also many complimentary services offered like WiFi, car service on weekday mornings, wine tastings, etc. It is inexpensive but it is only a couple of blocks from the expensive hotels. It is not very far to walk to get to Union Square or many of the other attractions.
“Excellent Service”
This hotel is really well placed to visit all the major areas. It was on a regular bus route and had bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. The Staff were extremely polite and helpful. The room was very clean, a good size and had comfortable twin beds. The furnishings were tasteful and modern. I would return to this hotel next time I stay in San Francisco.
“Comfortable, convenient and reasonably priced.”
Staff was friendly, attentive and helpful and warned me (a single woman traveler) to stay away from Tenderloin area. I'm sorry I missed the evening winetastings but I was too busy running around. California St. cable car is 3 blocks away and 2 of the blocks are uphill (tho not a steep hill). Hotel is in a quieter area but accessible to most major sights. There was a fire burning in the lobby's fireplace. Breakfast in the restaurant was fine. I used the PC off the lobby to check email. I would stay here again.
“Very friendly and comfortable”
The only problem was the parking costs but I think it is a city problem not a hotel problem. The hotel is downtown and there is little public parking, so valet parking is a relief until you get the bill.
“Great hotel!”
Wonderful, friendly service, attractive ambiance and a wonderful restaurant to top it all off.
“Everything was beautiful!”
Very clean hotel in a quiet location. Everyone was very polite and helpful. Very nice decoration. The restaurant was a bit small and dark. I would prefer to eat outside.
“very nice hotel”
Very nice hotel with kind employees. They offer free wine every afternoon at 5 ! Just a few points which could be improved such as the noise isolation of the room. But my overall appreciation is just : come to this hotel if you plan a trip to SF.
