“Fair and nice style”
Great location, clean and good service, Continental Breakfast was good as well.
“Impressive”
Great location and cost.
“Good Location”
The Beresford is in a great location one block from from all the shops at Union Square and one block from a cable car stop. The hotel is fairly an old but has been refurbished really nicely with matching old style furniture. The staff were friendly and helpful as well. The room didn't have air conditioning which in Novemeber didn't bother us plus I gather it never gets that hot in San Francisco even in the summer! The window in the room did open though.
“Great hotel!”
This hotel was probably one of the best that I've ever stayed at. It was in a convenient location and we could walk everywhere we had to go since if was so close. The staff there were also very nice and very helpful. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who travels to San Francisco.
“What's the problem?”
Perhaps too many Westerners have expectations that their hotels ought to be the Hilton in every circumstance, but in short, it's not clear to me why this hotel has such a low rating. True, it does not have room service or a pool or AC or a workout room. However, it's not clear to me why a hotel in downtown San Francisco needs AC (it's always rather temperate, from whatever I understand) or a workout room (the whole city is a workout room with its incredibly steep hills at times). If you are accustomed to room service and 'must have it,' then this is not the hotel for you. If you want a hotel with rooms that feel like a home, a pub on the main floor that feels like the corner tap, a staff that is competent and courteous, and clean and workable environment, this is definitely the place. It is a cute boutique hotel in Union Square within walking distance of most downtown attractions. My wife and I were in town for a conference that was held at an expensive resort hotel, and we much preferred this hotel, with its European feel and short distance from everything (i.e., the conference, food, shopping, attractions). Additionally, we felt quite safe. We both highly recommend the Beresford.
“Business Trip - would come back”
Although I had read other reviews that were mixed, i found the hotel, staff and services all quite nice and frankly, very reasonably priced. Room was clean and comortable for a hotel of its vintage and loved the small quaint resturant/bar next door.
“Very pleased.”
Great location and enjoyed the refrigerator and honors bar.
“Great Location! Why pay for useless amenities?”
Whey you're in San Francisco, why pay a premium for amenities? I'm there to see the city -- not the hotel. The Beresford Hotel is located within blocks of Union Square, Chinatown, the trolley line, the financial district. Old building; let's call it "quaint." Small rooms. But clean and incredibly friendly. Sufficient little continental breakfast included. Great little pub just off the lobby. It's the only place I'll stay!
“Awesome place to stay!”
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room and the private bathroom were super clean. I am not a fan of dirty or of germs and I felt very comfortable. The hotel had an old charm about it. The windows actually opened, the room key was an actual key, and overall it felt classic and timeless. Others have complained about the size of the room, but there was more than enough room for two people. (Besides, if you're on vacation to see the sights and enjoy another city, how much time are you really in the room anyway?) Other reviewers also complained about the noise, but we had no problems. We had our window open every night and weren't bothered at all. (I am a light sleeper.) The hotel is centrally located in Nob Hill (downtown), and within walking distance to most all the tourist sights and a couple steps to the cable car line and the BART. Safe neighborhood, even at night. There is great shopping nearby, great restaurants everywhere, and great sights to see no matter where you are. The price of this hotel is ridiculously inexpensive for how great it is. The only complaint I have, and it's by far from the hotel's fault, is the parking in the city. Be prepared to pay for parking no matter where you stay. This hotel is actually on the less expensive side of parking fees. It does however take the valet 15-20 minutes to get your car, but you will find that walking is far more enjoyable because of how close everything is. Overall, when you stay here, you will enjoy it.
“Will return”
Beautiful, quet place to relax after a long day. Staff was helpful and polite.
