(939 reviews) Let me start with the positives. The staff are absolutely great. They are happy, gracious and, responsive and overall make for a very pleasant atmosphere. The food is phenomenal. From basic nachos and burgers, if that's what you feel like, to elevated breakfast and lunch, to top notch star-level dinners. If you're looking for quiet and privacy, with under 200 rooms, this is the place. There are no late night parties. Solo travelers, were left alone by others - unless they wanted to engage. There is wildlife to see, coatis, raccoons a few iguanas and some crocodiles (which are NOT a danger to humans). There are some things that are entirely out of the control of the resort and the staff. The resort itself is built on a swampy area so in places there is that swampy smell. It's not by any of the rooms, only along the path between the Ambar restaurant and the beach-side complex. Quintana Roo's sargassum problem is managed as best as it can be at this resort. It's being raked away all day, every day. Unfortunately, neighboring properties don't do as much, or some (ANY) clean-up efforts, making for putrid smelling walks along the beach if you venture off property. Again - the Blue Diamond beach is cleared. Unfortunately, along with the extraordinary positives, there are negatives. Each on their own would not be that big a deal, but compounded, they add up to an underwhelming experience. (3,186 reviews) Rooms where awesome with ocean view but there was a catch, the lights on the porch automaticly come on at dawn until around 11 pm which made the jet tub a little uncomfotable. The food was really bad. At the buffet some items remained all day round when it was supposed to be cycled three times a day. Portions at the resturant where very small, you needed to order two. Then when you ordered two the waiters would get frustrated. We left the resort three evenings for dinner at a cost. Excursion food off the resort was verrrry good. The alcohol drinks where a struggle to take down, way to much sugar mixed with bottom shelf watered down alcohol. If you wanted top shelf you had to tip BIG or be apart of some infinity group which was a scam in itself. If you go dont get pulled in to a sit down to here about infinity, waist of half of a day. The lobby bar was the only one that offered some top shelf options without the hassle. Be prepaired to claim your seats for the pool or beach very early in the am or you will be outta luck. Cabannas by the ocean are totally worth it, 100 usd a day with a waiter non stop and some really good food that is offered no where else on the property. As far as the staff goes we really meet some great people. Fernando and Victor at the beach where the best! Fredy at the front desk was very helpful.
