8/10 Very good! (4,065 reviews)
This RIU has dated rooms but they were clean and well maintained. Despite a few exceptional workers there, most of the staff (front desk and bartenders) do not care and are simply there for a paycheck. Tori and Jamaine are wonderful at the front desk. Jason was a great bartender at the pool. The servers in the restaurants and buffet were very nice and professional. Other than the Japanese restaurant and buffet at dinner, the food was pretty bad compared to other RIUs we’ve stayed at. The ingredients were sub par at best. The breakfast buffet was small and not kept up with. The best part of this resort is being directly on cabbage beach. The water is clear and the sand was immaculate. However there are no servers on the beach to bring you drinks like other RIU resorts. Overall we enjoyed our stay but there is definitely room for improvement, especially from the staff and preparation of the food. RIU please do better.

8.8/10 Excellent! (2,918 reviews)
Amazing place, truly feels like a paradise. Even though some attractions need upgrades and maintenance, specially the underground tunnel/aquarium and pyramid slide that they advertise so heavily. Loved the beach, the variety of pools, rapid river is a ton of fun. Clean/upgraded rooms though the bathroom needed fixing (mainly tub and air vent). Water if you choose to buy is cruise-level expensive. Wish they gave you complimentary water like most places per day, but they do have filtered-water stations every where and in our case gave us a free tumbler which was very useful. Great atmosphere, plenty to do, even if some things are very pricey but if you can afford to come here you already know what you are getting yourself into. I do have to warn about the staff, I would say 25% of the ones we encountered were friendly, helpful even if you are the ones that greet them with a smile they ignored or barely said 'hi'. The rest barely acknowledge you, greet you and seem down right miserable to be there. In more than one occasion they made me feel like I was insulting them just for being there or making a small request. In all the resorts I've been to in many countries, I have never encountered this issue at this scale.
