Riviera Maya Adults Only Vacations

We travel yearly to Mexico and this was my all-time favorite resort after 20+ years of traveling and staying at other places, ocean Maya Royale will be our go to next year. The staff is fabulous. I can’t name them all, but to give a few shout out Moses and entertainment Sandy at the breakfast buffet and Francisco, the bartender. But all the staff was great. The facilities are very nice and the food was really good

Swim up room on the adults only side at El Beso was fantastic! The room was clean, and bucket decorated. This is a very well maintained resort. Buffet was phenomenal, with so many options, changing significantly daily. On site “reservation” restaraunts were delicious, with lots of options. The lower beachside restaraunt was being renovated, which would have been nice to know as we booked. It was very loud, and very disorganized at the beach, and beach pool. Did appreciate the satellite bar set up daily down there! Lots of wildlife at this resort! The staff was fantastic, the spa was nice. It’s a very clean, very well maintained resort. Has a discteque, live entertainment- and a bowling alley.

The hotel is very old and in between a renovation. My room was extremely dated, with worn furniture and dresser drawers that repeatedly became stuck. The shower was poorly designed and flooded the bathroom and hallway every time it was used. The sink, faucets, and drains were also outdated and did not function properly. Housekeeping service was disappointing and was only provided when specifically requested. Event planning and concierge services were equally poor. Upon arrival, no one explained how the hotel operated or provided information about scheduled events, daily activities, or available amenities. We stayed in The Haven, the adults-only section, and found it extremely disappointing. There were virtually no activities, and the atmosphere was dull rather than relaxing or entertaining. To make matters worse, there was constant construction noise from jackhammers, chipping hammers, and saws, making it impossible to unwind. Overall, the lack of maintenance, communication, and attentive service made the stay very disappointing

This is a good place for people who want to get lots of free drinks and eat a lot. It’s overpriced otherwise. The grounds are nicely maintained and the staff are exceptional. I probably wouldn’t go back because I don’t drink and don’t feel like it’s worth the cost. The food was decent with lots of options. The room I was in was outdated and dark but maybe the more expensive rooms are nicer and updated. Some natural light would’ve been nice. The crowd was a little trashy and loud, making it hard to relax even at the no party pool. 3/5 stars. Pros: staff, grounds and quiet at night. The beach although choppy was amazing. Great AC in rooms and indoor spaces. Cons: overpriced, outdated and dark rooms.

We stayed in August 2024 for my birthday. This was our 5th or 6th trip and unfortunately we will probably not return. Resort has stopped focusing on couples and has starting promoting large groups to book rooms. The resort isn't set up for this. Dining is delayed, staff is stressed (not enough of them to serve large groups plus other guests), more buffets than before, loud groups partying until late into the night/morning takes away from the chill, relaxing, quiet vibe the resort used to have. Staff and taxi drivers indicate the new manager (might not still be there 1.5 years later, maybe so) was running the resort into the ground for personal profit. We came here for our honeymoon in 2016 and loved it and went back several times. The last trip was so bad and noisy we were ready to leave early since the other people in our building thought nothing of blaring their music and talking on the phone until 3 and 4am in the common areas between rooms. The way the buildings are set up in this resort you walk into a common area and all the rooms in the building come off the common area. The problem is the rooms are very insulated between the rooms but not around the doors. Also because of the large open ceilings, stuff in the common areas echo. As the group was very large (probably 30 plus adults), our concerns were pretty much dismissed since they had rented out about 1/3 of the resort. The wait staff and kitchen staff and bar staff did the best they could.

A very intimate and lovely resort. Enjoyed our stay as always, food was great, staff was awesome and over all a great peaceful stay

We concluded a 5 night stay at this resort and have been to probably 10+ resorts in Cancun over the past dozen or more years. Arrival started out OK as our flight got in well before 3pm check-in, so we enjoyed a lunch until that time. Room mix-up then resulted in us not getting into our booked room type til 5pm. We were in Building 6B, so spent most of our daytime at the "lazy river pool". Santos from nearby Revive bar was FANTASTIC with every single interaction. Nice pool with plenty of available chairs and palapas, but snagging a resort pool float was always an adventure. Easier just packing your own inflatable one. Breakfast was solid & very similar to typical Cancun all-inclusive buffets, though maybe smaller with slightly fewer options than most. We normally eat a good breakfast & skip lunch, though we did hit Las Olas one day and enjoyed our food. Dinner was another story, mainly due to renovations at multiple locations. Not sure why THREE places - Chez Isabelle, Agave, and Aroma coffee bar - were all selected to be closed at the same time, as I'd much rather them close one at a time to minimize inconvenience and confusion to guests. Those 3 locations were still available but at different locations. For example, Agave was sometimes open at Oregano, meaning no Italian choice that night. Food was good & service was always great. This is the third Excellence resort we've visited and I'd place it in the middle with Playa Mujeres easily at the top and Punta Cana below.

The shower was poorly designed and flooded the bathroom and hallway every time it was used. The sink, faucets, and drains were also outdated and did not function properly.
