If you’relooking for a quiet afternoon to yourself, visit Waterfront Park and take inits relaxing atmosphere. Find yourself a spot on the sand at Tugboat Bay or sitbeneath the shade of the oaks within the park. Swim in the lake or hire a boatand explore the water.

Walkalong the boardwalks and you will pass through gardens landscaped with a mix ofnative species and exotic plants from all around the world. Be sure to head toRhapsody Plaza. Here you will see fountains and artwork by some of Canada’smost renowned artists. Among the highlights is a brilliant white sculpture ofthree intertwined dolphins. Continue on to Rotary Marsh at the far end of thebeach to spot a wide range of native bird species.

If youfancy a longer walk, the boardwalk continues into the larger City Park. Do aloop here and return to Waterfront Park to grab a drink or a snack from one ofthe stands. Take this path back to the beach to enjoy views across the lake andwatch the boats drifting past.

If youvisit during the weekend, be sure to check out the Island Stage. Thisperformance space often features live music from local bands. The sloped bermin front of the stage creates a natural amphitheater that can accommodate morethan 500 spectators.

WaterfrontPark is located at the end of Water Street, close to the center of town. Thepark is open all day and there is no admission fee. Plenty of parking isavailable close by.
