Pack your swimsuit for a day of beachside fun. Paddle, swim, stroll along the promenade and dine with ocean views.

Milton Beach is located in the affluent suburb of Sea Point on the Atlantic Ocean side of Cape Town. It is one of a small number of beaches in front of the Sea Point Promenade. Stroll along the shoreline, enhance your tan and paddle in the cool water. The beach has a tidal pool, an accessible rocky pool filled with seawater that is particularly popular with families looking for small sea creatures and a safe place to swim.

Spend a few hours or a full day at Milton Beach but be aware that you will have to walk a short distance for toilets and drinking fountains. Bring your own drinks and snacks.

Take advantage of Sea Point's other recreational highlights in addition to the sand and the sea. Walk, cycle or jog along the promenade. Take part in an impromptu game of rugby or soccer on the lawns beside the promenade or sit on one of the benches and enjoy the gorgeous views over the Atlantic Ocean. Along the promenade find places to eat, ranging from casual to upmarket. If young children are traveling with you, bring them to the numerous playground areas that run the length of the seafront walkway. Watch them enjoy the swings and jungle gyms.

If you like swimming, but don’t want to enter the sea, go to the Sea Point Pavilion. This is a complex of open-air swimming pools, filled with filtered and chlorinated seawater. Swim some laps in the Olympic-size pool or watch your kids splashing in the children’s pools.

Extend your time in the area and explore other Sea Point beaches, including Rocklands and Brokenbath Beach, which are linked by the promenade.

Milton Beach and the Sea Point neighborhood are approximately 3 miles (5 kilometers) from the center of Cape Town. Arrive by bus or taxi, or drive and use the free parking in the main road by the promenade.
