"Nice hotel on the beach, two outdoor pools "
Only had 1 night stay, but would definitely book again. In the heart of the Golden Zone, so it was close to lots of shops and restaurants.

"Great hotel greater staff"
When arriving we were greeted by a welcoming and friendly staff. Immediately you get the sense that the staff from bellman to check-in to servers, maids and management are genuinely interested in providing you with a wonderful stay.

"A great location on the beach."
The hotel had a very friendly feel, the beds were extremely comfortable. We originally booked for 2 nights but we extended our stay and upgraded our room to the junior suite which was exactly what we wanted. The staff were great. You are also in walking distance of numerous restaurants and bars, with a short taxi trip to the historical centre of Mazatlan. We would defiantly return.

"Not a bad little hotel that won't break the bank."
My room was very clean and in good condition however I did see quite a few tiny little ants on the balcony which seemed to be coming from the adjacent suite. Some things could use updating or touching up. The bathroom fixtures looked pretty antiquated. I booked an executive ocean view suite. The room itself was pretty basic. An executive suite at this inn means on the top floor (5th-"pijo ejecutivo") having the best view of the ocean or if you prefer a view of the laguna which I wouldn't recommend because it isn't that nice too look at. One advantage on that side is you can sit on your balcony during the day in the shade instead of being fried by the sun lol. Very nice view of the Malecon and ocean though it is obstructed a little viewing north by an unsightly building/hotel right next door. It looks like they are sprucing it up a little. A previous guest's review mentioned the prohibition on outside food and beverages. This is not Olas Altas' policy. It's a dept. of health regulation so it is in place at all resorts and hotels with I assume an adjoining restaurant. Never encountered any rules like that before in the US or Canada and it is a bit of an annoyance if you want snacks or drinks after room service closed. Check in/out was a breeze. No surprises and they summoned a cab to take me to the airport which was there immediately. Bit of a language barrier but not bad. I think I was the only non-Mexican national there at the time so maybe they assumed I spoke Spanish.

"Mexico getaway"
We go to Mexico regularly and often add a day or two to our regular week. This hotel is in a great location and right on the beach. The staff is very attentive. The restaurant and bar staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Happy hour is 1-2 everyday, and the restaurant has a good breakfast.

"Nice location great pool & beach. Food is average."
Stayed here many times years ago, tried it for a few nights since we were coming to this area for a weeks stay at another resort. pool is really nice, food is typical to average for Mexico. We had a on bedroom suite and all the best were very hard, soar hips in the morning, pillows were so hard and like sleeping in a rock. Buffet breakfast was good but they allow females to dine in strapless tops and cut off denim shorts with stings hanging and butt cheeks hanging out, however males can not done in anything sleeveless so after we were seated and plated our food up we were asked to go change due to tank top. They wanted our money so seated us and allowed us to plate up food before asking us to go change and then return to cold food. There ar two men that are managers who need to learn a lot from other successful resort management because all they did epwas walk around look arrogant and they were rude to both the guests and especially the servers in the dining area. At breakfast one day one of the manager men actually bumped a waiter causing him to drop plates that crashed all over and the manager stood with an angry face and shook his head shaming the waiter who had been running circles to meet guests needs. It was shameful how the manager blamed the waiter in front of everyone. We saw these two men in suits all around various places of the resort and not one time did they have a smile for guests etc they do El Cid no favors it would be best for the managers to go away.
