About this property

Mountain Top Tent at Smith Farms - Site 1

This incredible site is perfectly situated on a mountain top, with amazing sunset views overlooking a valley. Nestled in the middle of 75 acres, this site offers the perfect escape that's not too far from all of the great things Asheville, North Carolina has to offer. The swimming pond, hills, and forest land accent your on-site stroll around the farm as you tour the nearly 3 miles of trails. We hope you enjoy our farm as much as we have over the years! Welcome!
The space
We have 3 incredible canvas tent sites perfectly situated on a mountain top, with amazing sunset views overlooking a valley, a pond, hills, and forest land. Far enough apart for privacy, but close enough to host a big group.

This is Site 1.

Our campsites are off-the-grid which means they do not have access to electricity, wifi, or modern plumbing. Instead, they offer the chance to relax, unplug, and fully experience nature!

Your site includes a 10'x12' canvas tent on a raised wooden platform. Inside the tent, you'll find one queen bed. The tent is big enough for the bed plus one or two extra sleeping bags on the floor. Aside from the canvas tent, campers can also use the extra 5-person pop-up tent that’s provided. You'll also have a picnic table, outdoor fire pit, 2 Adirondack chairs, and a propane heater to keep you warm on those cool nights.

Max Occupancy: 5 people. This refers to the total number of campers allowed onsite with your reservation. Additional guests are $10 per night per guest.

Toilets: Every campsite is equipped with a camp toilet...that uses NASA-developed technology. This is a simple wooden box with a toilet seat and a bucket inside. To use, line the bucket with one of the supplied CleanWaste Sani-Bag (supplied at the camp) prior to use. Afterward, simply tie the bag up and place it in a trash bag. CleanWaste Sani-Bags use a NASA-developed gelling/deodorizing agent that helps prevent spills and keeps everyone safe and clean.

Showers: Every campsite comes with a Camp Sun Shower. The sun shower has a reservoir that holds up to 5 gallons of water, potentially enough for multiple showers. It's constructed of heat-locking material that warms the water when it's left in the sun, even on cool days.

Extras Included:

fire pit with cooking grill, solar heated camp shower, a large cooler, drinking water - a full 5-gallon cooler of potable water filled for you before arrival, washing/cleaning water - nonpotable water access is very close by the car parking area. We also include toilet paper, camp bowls, cups, silverware, and plates for 6, one stainless pot, and one large stainless skillet.
Guest access
Please enjoy our farm! We have nearly 4 miles of hiking trails through woodlands, open fields, along the creek, and even some fun hilly terrain.

Some parts of our farm are fenced from guests to allow our animals to graze in peace. Please follow the signs as posted.

Great tent with a view!
The kids and I stayed here 2 nights. It was great! We enjoyed the view of a thunderstorm with lightning rolling in the first night, without any water disrupting us in the tent. It was a relaxing sleep that a sound machine cannot duplicate. The beautiful purple and red sunset was positioned perfectly the second night and only affected by the clouds, truly a part of the smoky mountain experience and beyond anyone's control. We could see the Big Dipper clearly and there was no light pollution from streetlights or houses. I really enjoyed my morning coffee sitting in the chair on deck, looking out over the valley. It was very peaceful. We did not see any other people on site during our stay, it was private and quiet. A group could definitely use all 3 tents and gather around a common fire pit near the parking so everyone had privacy. The tent was spacious for our gear and the bed was comfortable. I had everything I needed because I read the listing carefully. I recommend asking the host about things that are very important to you to be sure. We needed to use the owners clear instructions to get to the tent site, the GPS directed us off course to another building on the property.
