Greater Cleveland Aquarium featuring heritage architecture and marine life
Sleep with the fishes overnight, dive with sharks and eels in a tank and take home exceptional souvenirs and unforgettable memories.

Greater Cleveland Aquarium is a fun and interactive institution showcasing tanks full of local and exotic marine species. Its displays occupy a space of 70,000 square feet (6,500 square meters) in the historic 19th-century Powerhouse building near the Cuyahoga River. Bring your kids to take part in the daily activities for hands-on experiences within this aquatic realm.

Encounter elegant tortoises in the Lakes & Rivers of the World exhibit. Enjoy the unusual feel of the stingrays in the popular Touch Pool. Feeding time for these intriguing creatures takes place daily in the afternoon. Find out from guides about the feeding time schedules throughout the aquarium.

Bring young children to the Small Fry zone, which offers animal encounters, educational sessions and arts and crafts. Try the Stingray Art Experience, where you choose the colors and the stingrays paint you a souvenir.

Walk through the aquarium tunnel and gaze up at the fearsome sharks all around you. If you’re a certified scuba diver, try diving with sharks, stingrays and eels. Take home any shark teeth you find as souvenirs.

Browse the items for sale in the aquarium gift shop, located at the end of the circuit. Relax at a table with hot dogs, pizzas and sandwiches at the Nautica Café. The aquarium is an ideal place to host a birthday party. Stay after the aquarium closes its doors to take part in the ZZZ’s in the Seas Overnight event.

There is a fee for entrance to the aquarium, with lower prices for kids. Toddlers are admitted free of charge. The site opens daily from morning until late afternoon.

The Greater Cleveland Aquarium is on a bend of the Cuyahoga River in the central part of Cleveland. Take the RTA public transit system to Settlers Landing station and cross the river on Center Street to get here. Consider driving and leaving your car in the aquarium parking lot for a fee. See nearby sights, such as Heritage Park, the Stonebridge Waterfront and the Detroit Superior Bridge.
