"Villa Mara is just a delight to stay. Feels like a luxurious hospitality experience without the pretentious, over the top feel that’s too much. Villa Mara somehow balances top tier service with a personable and tasteful touch while still feeling spoiled. Everything is just perfectly placed and curated to create an ease of being and leisure. My wife and I came here to celebrate our honeymoon and we couldn't have picked a better place to do so. They made us feel special with champagne and flowers and it was perfect to unwind after the wedding. The breakfast in bed was stellar with the best almond croissant we’ve ever had. The slice of cake was just a lovely touch when hanging out by the fire with a glass of wine. The pleasant aroma of Sental 33 throughout the room and shower products made you feel engulfed in luxury. The beautiful landscaping of cacti and ivy made you feel transported to a different country. It was an intimate, private experience but also had a communal atmosphere at the same time. The attention to detail really does make the experience while maintaining a cool personality and style. Very special thing they got going on. Villa Mara helped us fully relax and just enjoy being newly married. Thank you for this and we will be back in the future! Drew and Julianna"

"We had a wonderful time and the house met our needs perfectly! Relaxing on the back patio while using fire pit in the morning and night was very pleasant! The patio furniture was very clean & comfortable. The layout of the cottage was great with a semi-open floor plan. I really appreciated the cleanliness of the property! It was so lovely to be able to easily walk to two beaches.The kitchen was very organized & well stocked. Karen was a great host and was very responsive when we couldn’t find the switch for the stove hood light. I would definitely LOVE to stay again and hated to leave!"

"This resort arguably has one of the most spectacular views in Carmel. Unfortunately, our room had a very limited view, which was a huge disappointment. The room was not ready at 4:00 pm and we had to wait until nearly 6:00 to get into the room, however they were able to reverse the resort fee which was appreciated. The other issue was that the room reeked of smoke, so bad we could hardly breathe. Probably because the real wood fireplace had been used before us, but leaving behind the smoke is unacceptable. Other than this issue, the room was clean and quite large."

"We loved this quaint little house. The views are stunning and you can see it from all the living spaces in the home. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed. Everything was very nice and a step above what you typically get in a rental home. The beds were super comfy too. We loved everything about this house."
