So much under renovation during the stay and we werent informed until after booking. A lot of amenities not available during the stay including the beach front restaurant and pool side snack bar

We have been travelling to Mexico for 14 years and this resort is one of the best we have been to!We stayed in the Family Selection side.Check in-very quick as we arrived late and it was nice to have a good restaurant open.They delivered a baby crib to our room promptly.The butler service is good, sending daily lists of activities and booking the à la cartes. All the staff at this resort are top notch.The buffet food is very good (especially dinner), the à la carte restaurants are good as well (although I would skip the Asian restaurant).They have lunch on the beach which has awesome food which we got from walking over to the TRS (adults only) side by bringing a couple plates for the adults and kids to share. The drinks are good, premium alcohol with our Family Selection wristband is included and Churchills cocktail bar is awesome!There are video game rooms for the kids to keep them entertained.The resort itself is quite large (not the largest we have been to), but it only takes about 5 minutes to get to the beach or to the buffet/lobby from where we were staying in Villa 48.There are golf carts to get to restaurants at White Sands.The beach is very nice, lots of sand and an unlimited amount of beach chairs there and by the pool.It was a nice change not having to fight for chairs at 7am, the resort never felt busy and the staff said this was normal capacity.There’s very good tennis/pickleball, basketball and soccer fields.We will definitely be back some day, highly recommend!

perfect resort for families with young children!

Barcelo was so much more than we could've expected! We came for our honeymoon and were truly blown away by the beauty of the property, the activities they constantly had going, how kind and helpful the staff was, everywhere you look someone is cleaning, the food was amazing and plentiful. I could go on for days on how amazing this property was. We were a premium level guest with the ability to explore the connecting resorts and all were so beautiful! We loved it so much we extended our stay 2 more nights. No regrets! We hope to be back same time next year!

Staff was good, rooms were clean, food was made available except for a late night arrival. Pool temperature was colder than we expected, the gulf waters were a few degrees warmer than the pools.

We stayed here Jan 23-30, 2026 and had the best time. The resort was beautiful, well maintained in all the common area, staff were friendly and attentive. Room was good- nothing spectacular but it was clean and spacious, the bed was comfortable, well stocked mini fridge and housekeeping was excellent! The lobby shows (performed by the incredible POP team) and markets were a great way to spend our evenings- you definitely need to attend the UV Beach Party and Bingo Night when you are there. Because we booked through Expedia, we had VIP access to all three resorts on the property and concierge support through WhatsApp (this was the best as they can make your restaurant resos and help with soooo many other things... didn't know I needed this service in my life until this trip). Food was okay, well presented at the buffet but selection didn't change much from day to day. A la carte restaurants were also just okay. Tip- when you book the Japanese A la carte, if you pick the teppanyaki table it is a set menu and you do not have access to the sushi bar or any of the items on the menu you can see in the app... we would have chosen to eat in the regular side if we had known this. Beach is nice but very rocky entering the water by the Colonial Resort, you have to walk a short way down the beach closer to Kantenah to find an area to enter without rocks. All in all, this was a fantastic resort, our three teenagers (14, 17, 19) had a blast and we would definitely stay there again.
