Gerding Theater at the Armory Tours and Activities

This hotel is located in two buildings - one building with a nice lobby for the suites, and the motel style rooms in a different building across the street. This was a bit confusing as we parked near the motel building and wandered around looking for the front desk before realizing it was across the street in the other building. It would be nice if we were given instructions - I checked the notes here and there was no mention of this. Other than that the room was vintage but clean and recently renovated. The staff were friendly and helpful. I think there is probably a discrepancy in the "niceness" of the suites vs. the motel rooms, but this is a clean and friendly place to stay with free parking in PDX, so I can't complain. The motel rooms are quite affordable. My only minor complaint was that the bed frame was a weird metal one that made sort of clunky noises when you get in and out of bed, which could disturb a light sleeper. Otherwise everything was great.

Staff might have been the kindest & most accommodating I’ve ever encountered by a hotel, and I’ve stayed at a variety of places including Westin, Four Seasons, the Marriott, & other boutique hotels but the valet, bell hops, & front desk staff were all super kind & accommodating. Super clean, public transportation right in front, walkable, comfy bed. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the TV in the room next to me was right against my headboard so I could hear the TV when I was trying to fall asleep. Other than that, great stay and will totally stay again when I come back to Portland.
