The staff was helpful and the room was just what I was looking for. I loved the entryway, looking up and seeing the black and white photographs on the screen.

Sentinel, a Provenance Hotel

"Extraordinary downtown hotel"
(Almost) everything about this updated classic hotel is great. If you want a glass/steel/mirrors hotel, there are plenty to choose from. But the Sentinel has everything you want in a restored hotel. Except...wireless internet is really bad. I think it's their provider but the wireless constantly loses signal or is a very weak signal. There are many ways the hotel (or provider) can remedy this but, as of my stay, it's bad. I even called down and offered to pay for any upgrade/"premium" wireless but no luck.

The Heathman Hotel

"Pleasant Portland"
Nice hotel, easy location for shopping and dinning. Very walkable area. I can't stay enough about the kindly, thoughtful staff from the front desk to the excellent doormen. The only sour note was the sofa-sleeper. My 16 year old daughter complained bitterly about how unsupported she felt by the flimsy, thin mattress. I find it hard to believe management let this slip by as they seem so attentive to everything else in the facility.

"Nine's Toilets Leave Something to Be Desired "
My only complaint is something that is immediately obvious when you sit on a toilet: whether it has a round seat (i.e., smaller) or an elongated seat (i.e. larger). With one exception, every hotel that I've been to over the past 10 years has elongated seats in their guest rooms. That one exception is the Nine's Hotel. It seems to me that a hotel of the Nine's caliber should have spent a little more money on elongated toilets/seats to ensure guest comfort while they're...well, you know. You can have a good laugh about this review but, if you're a guy, you know what I mean and you appreciate the extra space of an elongated toilet seat. This was a rookie design mistake that the Nine's should fix in its next hotel room redesign.

"Fun in the heart of Portland"
My kids will never want to go anywhere else in Portland to stay after the warm reception with a stuffed animal gift. They certainly don't need another stuffed animal but it made them feel special and excited to be there. The location was great for us as we prefer to park the car and walk. We walked to a nice dinner at Rogue Brew pub.

"River Walk-Shops -5 star Hotel"
This isn't a hotel ! This is a resort on the river- The restaurant and bar were very nice- fireplaces- unique & handsome décor- The staff goes far out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home. Quiet and not a big hotel feel even in the hall ways. Our room was so luxurious and the bed was so comfy ! The waterfront views were very nice. There is a riverwalk that goes for about a mile ? with shops-bars and restaurants that start at the base of the hotel and a river front park on the other side. They have bicycles in the lobby for you and a free wine happy hour every even afternoon. Felt more like a upscale B&B to me. The front desk sent us to some local downtown restaurants that were all walkable and with delicious food. We loved this place !
