Everything was decent. The decor was nice. The location is very convenient for walking around downtown and sightseeing. There were a lack of wall outlets to charge my phone and tablet, I had to unplug the coffee maker and a lamp. Overall it was a good experience.

"lovely hotel in great location"
Everyone in Portland is congenitally friendly and helpful, including the hotel staff. Our room was nice size- not large, but not pinched. It was quiet until two weddings on Saturday night- then the throbbing dance music could be heard on the 5th floor. Otherwise and very nice experience overall. Restaurant (Jake's) food was very good. Starbucks served wine and small plates in the evening- a nice treat. Easy to take the red line (tram) to the airport for only $2.50 per person.

"Great location, nice restoration of historic hotel"
We could easily walk to everything. We took the train into town and walked to the hotel less than a mile away. Convenient for Portland street car and light rail. Tons of great restaurants and shopping within 2 blocks. Rooms are a little small, but nicely done and comfortable. Restaurant in hotel is overpriced so we went elsewhere.

"Nice place to stay. Rooms a bit small."
Upon arrival the valet promptly helped with bag and parked the car. We were a little disappointed in the inital check-in process, the room wasn't available until over 2 hours past our check-in time. Normally this wouldn't matter, but it was going to interfere with dinner reservations. The staff offered to comp the parking charges, due to the inconvenience. Dinner was nice at Urban Farmer. The Club level ammenities are great! I would reccomend the extra money for this.

"Vintage Portland "
The location of the hotel is wonderful. It's centrally located to a lot of what I wanted to see while in the city. The staff was helpful, the room was clean and the amenities were suitable. The only critiques I'd have is the fact that there is no drink machine in whole hotel so I had to walk around the corner to a 24hr convenience store. Also, wifi is paid only. I travel a great deal and usually you get free wifi at the lower speed and if you want better service you can pay for it. Here even the lower speed is 12.95 per day and the higher is 14.95.

"Very good experience, huge rooms"
My first stay at a Hotel Monaco. Got a King Suite to share with mom and daughter. HUGE room when compared to other hotels I've stayed in for the same price. The King bed was sectioned off into it's own room with french doors. The sofa turned into a bad, which was nice but not super comfortable, but better than most. The light rail was outside on the street was a bit noisy at night and in the morning. I'd suggest asking for a room on the Washington St. Side, or get higher up next time. The happy hour wine reception was great and gave my daughter an activity as they had games and painting for kids. Restaurant standards in Portland are exceedingly high, and so the Red Star Tavern restaurant was (unfortunately) mediocre as (unfortunately) expected. There are just too many great restaurants in PDX to waste your money there. The dinner staff was great, it should be mentioned and no lack of their trying to make an average experience great. Overall I'd highly recommend Hotel Monaco. I would actually stay there every time I went to PDX if they had a pool, which they are not set up to introduce any time soon...wishful thinking...
