Parkhotel Villa Grazioli

Via Umberto Pavoni, 19, Grottaferrata - Map
An elegant hotel offering a good experience on the outskirts of Rome. We stayed in the main villa which has impressive public rooms with original paintings. Good though expensive restaurant. Service is generally good, although we experienced some disruption (e.g. lifts occupied by lighting equipment) during our stay resulting from a crew having been given access to the hotel to make a film.

Hotel Esposizione Roma

Via Nazionale 66, Rome - Map
"Great Location, Great Staff, Good size"
1) location is prime. Close to all major locations. We even walked back from the vatican to the hotel. 2) staff was very friendly and helpful. The front desk receptionist named Ferdinand was very helpful and friendly. 3) for all the stories of Italy rooms being small, we paid for the basic room and the size was just as spacious as american/Canadian hotels.

"AHHHHHHHH-Mazing! Best night sleep on vacation!!!"
What is not to love about the Hotel Cavalieri in Roma? NOTHING! The hotel is a bit out of city center which we personally liked. They offered a shuttle service almost hourly that took you a few miles walk from the Spanish steps. When we did not use the shuttle, cabs were always nearby and the average cost was under $15-20 Euro day or night with or without traffic. The hotel offered great dinner recommendations and made reservations for us when we were busy on tours during the day. The rooms were so comfortable that we wanted to buy the mattresses. No seriously. It was like a perfect min vacation at the end of a wonderful walking tour of Rome. Would recommend it and would definitely attempt to stay here again. It looses a star only due to the fact theta we had a do not disturb siogn on our door and they came in the room anyway.... they rearrange all of my personal toiletries' and made my negligée into some sort of design on the bed. Little odd for us ..... Other than that, the room was super comfortable. I wanted to stay one more day!!!

Aparthotel Adagio Rome Vatican

Via Damiano Chiesa, 8, Rome - Map
"A good located self catering hotel."
The hotel was located close to the metro and therefore easy access to everything in Rome. The room was clean, had a two burner cooker, dishwasher, fridge and all the crockery and cookware needed. We had three single beds, they were comfortable although only one pillow each. The bathroom consisted of a shower, (very powerful and hot), a bday, great for washing feet after hard day's being a tourist and a sink with a huge light mirror, plenty of towels, shower gel and shampoo. There was lots of wardrobe space. We had a lovely big balcony overlooking the swimming pool. This was small but great for a quick swim after walking all day. The pool has a lifeguard on at all times, two changing rooms and hot showers. The two lifts was small with tiny doors, they were efficient and clean. The hotel does have a left luggage room which is useful because we arrived at 10 am and our rooms were not ready until 3.30pm. Breakfast can be taken at the hotel for 11€ but we chose to provide our own. Don't forget when you leave Rome you have to pay 4€ per night for your stay in tax to the hotel. I would consider this hotel again. You can get on the train which is a few steps from the hotel and two stops down change to the red line metro where you can access all areas. Ensure on your return trip you don't get on the non stop fast train to somewhere miles away like we did. 72 hr metro bus pass 18€, 24hr pass 7€, very good value. Trains always crowded but efficient, I highly recommend using them.

Le Petit Apartments

Via Camilla 27, Rome - Map
"Rental apartment in the suburbs"
This place is 5 metro stops from the Colloseum and about 7 from the central train station. It is basically a rented apartment of 3 rooms - you rent one of the rooms, which includes a bedroom 'space' and kitchenette area plus bathroom. The good part is that you get a taste of suburban life but it is a metro ride away from the tourist attractions (€1.50 / 20mins each time).
