He recommended us places where we would get delicious lunch and dinner (Most of Hudson City restaurants and shops close during weekdays, even in the summer). He was also helpful in giving us information about the city and its rich history. What we liked most about the house was, its superb architectural qualities. The house dates from 1880s, well-preserved and with minimum restorations, respectful to its magnificent proportions with large windows in all rooms. Recently added bathrooms in the rooms did not interfere with the layout. The rooms are furnished with well-used "old" furniture. (The mattresses, though, can benefit from updating). The breakfast that Barry provided was satisfying and delicious, prepared in accordance with our preferences. We enjoyed fruit that seemed to be everywhere in the sitting room, arranged appealingly. The cost of the room was a bit high for the room. The building itself is charming and breakfast was good, but their seemed to be a run-down feel about the place--especially the grounds, had overgrown shrubbery and junk (old lattice, piles of woodchips and yard furniture) strewn in the backyard. Barry was a great host. His B & B is warm and inviting and the room was very spacious and comfortable. A few blocks from town and the train. Can't be beat.
