Except for a couple of the doormen, the staff were very helpful and friendly. I was never able to reach the concierge - he was nowhere to be seen , not answered the phone when I needed him. The Sunday brunch was to die for, and Louella our server was terrific. The room was small, but comfortable. I wish it had furniture with drawers (maybe a small dresser?) to unload our suitcases into, and not just the closet for hang-ups. Also, the tub had spots in it (maybe paint??). Very good fitness room downstairs. Although the dumbells only are up to 50 lbs. they have machines you can use instead if that's your thing. The downstairs lobby & common areas are old world and very tastefully decorated. I've heard it's a haunted hotel but nothing like that happened to us. Overall a very good experience.

"Beautiful historic hotel "
The Tremont House is a beautiful historic hotel. It is in close proximity to the historic district and the port. We were able to walk to most of the things we wanted to do and to many nice restaurants. The staff was particularly nice, welcoming, and helpful.

With every experience, there are pros and cons. Not always do things go according to plan, or exactly how "they should be"... First and foremost, I went and visited Galveston during their off peak time. So my hotel was decently priced, and the beach was not at any given time at all, busy... and the waves were not so crazy or anything... this also includes the beaches, they weren't either. (I keep reading how loud the ocean, the waves sounded like they were crashing into the building... etc)... PEOPLE... you chose to remain in a hotel walking distance to the beach. YES, it is be predicted to be loud! YES, THE WAVES MAY SOUND LIKE THEY ARE HITTING THE BUILDING... but isn't that one of the reasons why you want to the beach in the first place; for the experience of the ocean and such?! I went on the off season, so the beaches weren't crowded (like I said above), the waves weren't out of control or anything... the weather was nice, and a little cool at night (maybe 75's).... all and all i think it was a great experience. Now the other stuff. They have a pool. I did not use it because I only stayed one night. I rather go to the beach instead. I love the beach :) it was nice though. I checked it out a little bit when I went to rinse off my feet and sandals from the sand from walking on the beach. They have a small water fountain that is a good portion of the pool. I saw a few other hotel goers standing under it in the pool. They seemed to really like it. The elevator... *shiver

"First time in Galveston "
We were so excited that we were able to book this hotel. We purchased our family cruise tickets back in March/April and wanted to wait until Sept which was the month we would set sail to book our hotel. Went wanted to be in Galveston a day before the cruise so we wouldn't be rushing to get down there the day of. This hotel was available at a very reasonable price and we were able to get 2 rooms. Which was key because we didn't want to share our room with the, no! The only complaint we had was the smell throughout the entire hotel. It smelled like mildew the whole time we were there no matter where you were in the hotel. That was disappointing but I don't think it was initial. The ocean is directly across the street so I believe that played a factor. So there's no fault of the hotel. The staff was pleasant. The breakfast was awesome. We had I great time and would go back.

"Love this place!"
This is my first stay at a Red Roof Inn and we loved it! Upon check in we met Toby and he is on top of his game! Not only did we feel like we had been coming here for years, I am booking ahead for next year. Initially I asked for a king room but that reservation did not go through so we settled for the next available. Toby managed to get a room close to the front, needed because of my boyfriend's disability. Hotel is close to everything that we wanted. Thank you so much for making our first time a pleasant memory!
