"Great location and amenities, rooms need updating"
We stayed at the San Luis for one night just as a last minute get-away for our 2 boys and one of their friends. For the added cost, it is definitely worth it. The views are amazing and the restaurant, lounge, and pool areas are phenomenal. Our only issue was with the rooms. All the furniture could use updating and the bathroom was straight out old. The grout was pretty awful on the floors. The bathrooms need an overhaul to be truly a 'luxury' hotel. Besides that, the valet and all the hotel staff were incredibly friendly and engaging and knew our names right from the start. We will DEFINITELY be staying here again and for a longer stay next trip down.

"Facilities nice, staff not so much"
Surprisingly nice rooms. New furniture. Comfortable bed. Clean and modern. Location is nice just down from the "Pleasure Pier" along the Galveston seawall. We took fun evening walks down the beach. Free fast WiFi. Downside was the hotel staff. The woman at check in was slow and less than friendly. The cleaning staff knocked on our door at 9:00am. We asked them to come back later. Never did. Calling the front desk that evening we were able to get some clean towels but nothing else. Disappointing.

"Great family activities, food, and hotel"
My family stayed in adjoining rooms that were spacious and well lit. The activities at the nearby Moody Gardens were all within walking distance. The family enjoyed all of the Moody Gardens activities, as well as the hotel pool, cafe, and in-room breakfast. We will likely make this a recurring trip.

Great view if your room faces the Gulf. Even though it was cold, we enjoyed the outdoor pool. Nice historical pieces.

"Weekend getaway"
Perfect getaway with traveling far. Enjoyed restaurants & pubs within walking distance. If your leaving on a cruise you can walk there from this hotel. Only valet parking but we parked in 2 hour parking on the street & never got a ticket. Shopping is fun on the strand, confectioners store is the best for dessert.

"Nice hotel with good location."
Good experience. The bell captains were very attentive. Pool bar - needs more staff, poor service. Would have been nice to have a balcony. Not all units have one. Otherwise, very pleased.

"Great vacation"
My husband and I went here in August. We loved it! We can't wait to come back when we have kids. It is very family friendly. I can't say one bad thing about this place. It was a great room with an amazing view of the ocean. The galvestonia offered a lot of items to take to the beach as well.

This is an older motel. But rooms were very modern & super clean! Only complaint was the beds were WAY too soft!! The location is fantastic and the view from our balcony just could not be beat!!

"Nice stay by the beach"
The good - decent breakfast, nice view from the balcony, great AC!!! Staff very, very nice and friendly. The location was great and it was quiet at night. The underground parking garage was nice, and we always found a spot close to the elevators. I was traveling with my 89 year old Mom and she doesn't walk long distances and is unsteady, so close to the elevator was very good. The not so good - you have a weird turn in from the seawall (once you do it a couple times, it is OK), and the swimming pool was really, really small.
