"Excellent room facilities. Reception staff very helpful. It was great to be able to leave luggage with reception owing to early arrival & later departure by train. Although breakfast was classed as complimentary, there was a very good choice of cereals, juice, breads etc. The only slight disappointment was with the quality of the cooked breakfast available, largely basic catering products. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, location excellent for the centre of York & convenience of the railway station. We would certainly stay again."

"This is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. I've stayed in a lot of hotels that cost a lot more, but were nowhere near as nice as the Grand. It is just a five-minute walk from the rail station, which was very convenient. The York city wall is literally across the street and gave wonderful views of the skyline. Easy walk into the city centre. The room was large and comfortable. The bathroom was divine - very large, beautiful marble, instant hot water. My husband and I said repeatedly that we could live there."
