"The "apartment" we had rented on the first floor was "unavailable" so they have us the whole upstairs. There was no way to secure the upstairs had anytime been in the apartment below. However, no one was on that apartment during our stay l, luckily. It was basically a frat house vibe upstairs, it was 10 degrees overnight and the heat couldn't keep up. We froze while we slept. Not to mention the scurrying in the attic I heard when I was using the bathroom. Should not be listed on hotels.com."

Frequently asked questions

How much does a budget hotel in Atlanta cost?
Budget hotel prices in Atlanta vary, but you can find a great deal from CA $93 on Expedia. To find the cheapest budget hotels, be flexible with your dates—typically, off-peak and mid-week stays are cheaper. Stretch your budget further by looking for hotels with free breakfast, free parking or free airport shuttles. Sort your search results by "Price: low to high" to see our lowest rates.
Which area of Atlanta is best to stay in for cheap hotels?
For budget-conscious solo travellers seeking affordable accommodation in Atlanta, areas like Downtown and Midtown offer a good selection of competitively priced hotels, often with excellent public transport links. These central districts are well-connected and provide access to many of the city's attractions.

Downtown Atlanta, while a business hub, also features a variety of hotels that can be surprisingly affordable, particularly on weekends. Solo travellers will find themselves within walking distance or a short ride on the MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) train to attractions like Centennial Olympic Park, the World of Coca-Cola, and the Georgia Aquarium. Many hotels here also offer shuttle services to nearby sights, further reducing transport costs.

Midtown is another attractive option, known for its cultural institutions and green spaces. It often has a vibrant setting with a mix of hotels, including some with more budget-friendly rates. Solo travellers can easily explore Piedmont Park, the High Museum of Art, and the Atlanta Botanical Garden. The MARTA stations in Midtown provide seamless travel throughout the city, making it easy to save on taxis or ride-shares.
When is the most affordable time to visit Atlanta?
The most affordable time to visit Atlanta is generally during the off-peak seasons, specifically late autumn (November) and late winter (January to February). During these months, demand for flights and accommodation typically decreases, leading to lower prices.

For solo travellers, visiting during these periods offers a more relaxed experience with fewer crowds at popular attractions like the World of Coca-Cola or the Georgia Aquarium. You'll find better deals on hotels across different neighbourhoods, from the vibrant Midtown to the historic Downtown. Public transport, particularly the MARTA rail system, remains consistently affordable, making it easy to explore the city without a car.

Families might also benefit from these off-peak times, as many attractions offer slightly reduced rates or special promotions during slower periods. November avoids the spring break rush and summer holiday crowds, while January and February can be a quiet time to explore the city's parks and museums.
Is Atlanta a budget-friendly destination?
Yes, Atlanta is a surprisingly budget-friendly destination, especially when compared to other major US cities.

For accommodation, look for hotels outside the immediate downtown area, perhaps in neighbourhoods like Midtown or even further out along the MARTA lines. These areas often provide better value and are still well-connected to the city's main attractions. Solo travellers can also find a good selection of hostels in the downtown vicinity.

Couples can enjoy many of Atlanta's attractions for free or at a low cost. Strolling through Piedmont Park, exploring the BeltLine for its art installations, or visiting the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park offer rich experiences without breaking the bank. Dining can also be affordable; seek out local eateries and food trucks for delicious Southern fare that's easy on the wallet.
How can I save on a budget hotel in Atlanta with Expedia?
There are plenty of ways to save on a budget hotel in Atlanta. Unlock our lowest prices by joining One Key™, Expedia's travel rewards program. It's free and easy to sign up, and you can access member perks too. Typically, booking in advance will help you save on your hotel booking. If you're feeling spontaneous, be sure to check for last-minute deals.
What free activities should we do in Atlanta?
Atlanta offers a surprising array of free activities, superb for budget-conscious solo travellers looking to explore the city without breaking the bank.

You can start your exploration with a leisurely stroll or cycle along the Atlanta BeltLine, a network of multi-use trails built on former railway corridors. The Eastside Trail, in particular, is vibrant with public art installations, green spaces, and offers a unique perspective on several neighbourhoods, including Poncey-Highland and Old Fourth Ward. It's a fantastic way to experience the city's urban transformation and soak in the local atmosphere.

For a dose of history and nature, visit the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park. This significant site includes Dr. King's birth home, Ebenezer Baptist Church, and his final resting place, all of which are free to enter and provide profound insights into the Civil Rights Movement. Nearby, Oakland Cemetery, a beautiful Victorian garden cemetery, is another interesting spot for a contemplative walk, offering stunning architecture and lush landscapes.
Is it cheaper to book flights and a hotel in Atlanta as a package?
Booking a hotel and flight package on Expedia can be cheaper than booking flights and hotels separately. Bundling can lead to significant savings, especially for international travel or when booking well in advance. However, savings vary depending on factors like destination, travel dates, and availability, so it's wise to compare options. With access to over 300,000 hotels worldwide, Expedia makes it easy to build the perfect travel package.
Can I cancel my budget hotel reservation on Expedia?
Many Expedia hotel reservations are refundable, provided that you cancel before the hotel's cancellation deadline. This is often within 24-48 hours of your scheduled arrival. Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy. For maximum flexibility, use Expedia's "Fully refundable property" filter during your search to find the right budget hotel in Atlanta for you.
