This is an inexpensive hotel that felt more luxurious than the price tag indicated. We had a great stay, were very comfortable (those pillows!!!), and were so happy to be in the Americana building (5). Bus stop was basically right outside the gate on one side, and one of the pools on the other, and it was a 2 minute walk to the diner and lobby. Staying on property was also fantastic because we took advantage of the early admission hours and bus service, which was excellent. Never waited more than 3-4 minutes and the ride to the parks was even shorter than that. It was (dare I say it) better than Disney transportation.

Stayed for three nights at Portofino. Gorgeous setting, doesn't really look like a hotel from the outside. Check in and out very easy. Boat service to City Walk and both Universal parks very good with polite and helpful skippers. Nice variety of shops and great to have a Starbucks on site, especially for tea and coffee and pastries for breakfast. There is a breakfast buffet available in the restaurant, which was okay but it is way over-priced. The best perk of staying at this hotel is the free Express Pass for front of line access. And the beds were heavenly!
The two things that were disappointing were the lack of complimentary coffee or tea in the room, and also it costs $20 a day to park at the hotel for guests staying there! Really?!!
Having said that, I would stay here again if I was planning on visiting the Universal theme parks in the future for the free front-of-line pass if nothing else.

Lovely property, outstanding convenience and excellent service made this a great experience on our vacation. The extras that the hotel provides - early admission to Universal Studios, free Unlimited Express pass, and the Royal Lounge generosity made this a real value, even though for our family it was a splurge. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the lounge concierges are extremely informed, professional and polished. Free water taxis were more appreciated than we expected after a long day of walking the Universal parks. The overall experience at the Loews Royal Pacific was above and beyond what we expected. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.

I truly enjoyed my stay. Upon checking in, I was dismayed to see that my Garden View Room view was almost totally obscured by a five story palm tree whose four foot wide fronds were almost plastered to my window. The Concierge, however, could not have been more accommodating in immediately moving me to a nearby room with a fabulous view. Everyone (with one small exception) working here was extremely courteous and tremendously helpful. The room was very nice & super clean, and I really enjoyed all of the music memorabilia decor that the Hard Rock is known for. A few words about Emack & Bolio's Marketplace (which is located on the first floor): on two separate nights of my stay, I purchased sandwiches here and was delighted to find that their ready made sandwiches tasted as though they had been just freshly made. Also, a great place to stock up on water, juice, snacks etc. I would definitely stay here again!! as well as recommend it to others.
