Bolton Spa Vacations

We checked in late Friday night (called the hotel at 2pm to check this was ok). We were given our room card key and go to the room and there are people already in the room watching TV in bed!! It was incredibly embarrassing and was lucky nothing else was happening. Staff were only able to move us to a downgraded room with a broken TV for the night. We did not realise the bed was much smaller and not suitable as I am 28 weeks pregnant, it was like sleeping on a rock and didn't have the space for additional pillows. They were supposed to move us to a new room by 2pm the next day but didn't contact us until I went to reception myself to ask. We also questioned the refund and they said they'd get back to us twice but nothing happened until we went to reception. Eventually hotels.com sorted a partial refund of just the difference of the room as that was all the hotel allowed. For the price, terrible night's sleep in what is meant to be a relaxing spa hotel, and sheer embarrassment it was not worth it. We felt the need to barricade our room shut with a chair as there is no chain on the door and we were scared of the same thing happening again. The only positive was the spa itself which was very nice and enjoyed that part - much needed after all of the stress!
