"Beach was amazing. Resort was very modern and beautiful. Food was good (not spectacular) and staff were friendly and helpful. One downside was the "butler" experience. 2 butlers were assigned to us and neither one even tried to meet us during our week. One wanted to"say hello" on our last day, I assume to collect a tip for sending a Whattsapp message each day to simply say she was there. Also, the adult only pool area was always full of ants. I never saw anyone hosing the spilled sugary drinks from the pool deck at any point during the week and I would use bottles water to soak the area around my chairs to deter the ants. There was also black mold in the grout lines of the pool and I never saw anyone clean the pool all week which makes me suspect deficiencies in other areas of cleaning. Entertainment was ok. The best entertainment was the live band that plays for short periods in the main square after the theatre shows. Wish there was more of that. For the price I expected a bit higher level experience but if you are a beach person you will not be disappointed."

"Very difficult to get reservations for restaurants after checking in at the hotel. Almost all restaurants were fully booked and got one reservation after 9pm for dinner. Wasted a lot of time at the front desk to book in for restaurants only to find out the food and service was average. "

"Overall review: Staff kept and maintained the property very well. There were two restaurants that we enjoyed. The steak and international restaurants were the better choice. The buffet for breakfast was good. The quality of food at the dinner buffet was below average. The other restaurants will spoil your trip. The club played music all night til 2:00. If you’re on that side of the hotel, expect to hear it all night it was pretty annoying. This is a family resort and would expect them to have lowered the music and accommodate the people sleeping. The waterslides were fun for the kids. The staff did not clean the seaweed at the beach This is a four star hotel but I would’ve given it 3+ "

"We had a wonderful experience. Stayed for 7 nights. Staff were amazing. Property was very clean and well cared for. Beach was nice and walkable. Could use a few more staff at the front desk. Our check in was flawless, but when needing something else, there was a wait. Only 1 staff. We thought the food was great.I never had anything that wasn't amazing! Maria, Activities staff, Louis activities, director and all of the staff around the pool were fun and engaging. Francisco was our pool waiter every day!! He was hilarious! Attentive! Wonderful!!"

"Disappointing Return Visit – Declining Experience This was our 4th time staying at this hotel, and unfortunately, each visit has been noticeably worse than the last. First, the “elite” experience has significantly ruined the hotel. The hotel has closed several areas, yet the pricing remains the same (if not higher)- one restaurant, one pool, and part of the buffet area were closed, and nothing new has been added to compensate - you’re paying the same amount but receiving less value. The food quality and variety have also gone down. The fruit selection was extremely limited throughout our stay—mainly apples, bananas, melon, pineapple, and papaya—with little to no variation. Overall, dining felt repetitive and less enjoyable than in previous visits. Service, especially during breakfast in the outdoor area, was disappointing. Seating was difficult to find, and once seated, we often waited a long time for basic service like water or coffee. Additionally, the hotel felt overcrowded. The buffet frequently ran out of food, and it took a while for items to be replenished. It seemed the hotel was not prepared to accommodate the number of guests, which impacted the overall experience. It’s disappointing to see a place we used to enjoy continue to decline. We hope the management addresses these issues, but based on this visit, we are hesitant to return."

"Our family of 4 visited March 11-17th. This was our second trip to VDP. We have been to 8 other resorts and this resort is our favorite. It is always clean, beach is clean and perfect for swimming with little seaweed, and the rooms are amazing with lots of space and many amenities most other resorts do not have. The staff goes above and beyond and the food is excellent! We have a child with some significant food allergies. We went to Zama and got food to go for lunch every day as the bite bar was unable to prepare food for her due to space issues. Enrique and Garibaldo went above and beyond for her. Our last 4 days at breakfast, Cesar made sure her meal was ready as we walked in. Her food needs to be prepared in a separate area due to cross contamination, and Cesar and the chef made this happen! If you or a loved one has food allergies-always ask for Cesar at Caprichos. We had him 2 years ago and he did the exact same thing. He also made sure she was taken care of on his day off. We ate at all the restaurants and all were also so accommodating. We did have food allergy cards in Spanish and that really helped with any confusion. I highly recommend having them! We will definitely be back in the future! "

"This is our 2nd time here and we went back mainly for the gourmet food. We enjoyed Hiroshi Fire table the most followed by Blanca Blue, Food Truck, Bocados & Snack Bar. The breakfast buffet spread was really good with lots of selections as well. Food at DAO was just ok but we enjoyed the show when they were serving desserts (for a birthday). Service by the F&B crew was consistently great at all places. The only con I have is the “presentation” disguised as VIP upgrade or free breakfast/spa/tours but is actually just timesharing. We did not go for this and we do hope the concierge will respect and professionally accept the guests’ decision to reject such offers. Other than this, everything was great. Clean rooms, generous supply of snacks and drinks in the room, plush towels and comfy pillows."
