Named Scotland's Best Visitor Attraction in 2024, The Scotch Whisky Experience is located at the top of Edinburgh's Royal Mile, next to Edinburgh Castle. It houses one of the world's largest Scotch whisky collections, with nearly 3,500 bottles displayed in a striking glass and marble vault.
The guided tour takes visitors on a journey through Scotland's five whisky-producing regions, from the floral and fruity malts of Speyside to the smoky, peaty whiskies of Islay. Along the way, guests learn about the whisky-making process, from distillation to maturation and discover the art of blending in the Blenders' Sample Room.
Along the way, visitors can part in a guided whisky tasting and learn more about Scotland's national drink through an audio guide available in 16 languages. Visitors aged 18 and over also receive a crystal tasting glass as a souvenir to take home. The tour lasts around 50 to 75 minutes and is fully wheelchair accessible.
For those keen to explore Scotland's whisky regions in greater detail, the Gold Tour offers an extended tasting featuring four regional single malts in the McIntyre Gallery.
