Staff at Door
We were given a room right in front of the elevator and it gets noisy, both from people coming and going as well as the equipment. Not really a big deal if you're tired and can sleep through.
What I find odd is that staff knocked on the door at three different occasions and walked away without explanation when we opened. We are very quiet adults so it's definitely not because we were creating a disturbance. We were in town for a funeral and stayed 2 nights.
The first time staff knocked, I figure they wanted to clean because the guy was holding what might have been trash bags although he was dressed like security. It was early, around 8am. The 2nd time, staff opened the door without knocking and quickly closed it when she saw me. We were getting dressed to go out, still early in the day, around 9am. On our last day, someone dressed like she was from the front desk knocked and when I answered the door, she moved on without saying anything so I asked what time checkout was. She said 12 which meant we still had about 3 hours. She didn't say why she knocked.
Looks like they start cleaning very early and I didn't realize we were supposed to hang the 'Do not disturb' sign everytime we were in the room. We stayed out late on both nights and left before 10am on both days so there were lots of opportunities to clean.
In the hotels I've been to, the cleaning crews were always unobtrusive. I never had to hang the Do Not Disturb sign.
We were happy with the breakfast, though.
