"Our experience was a first of its kind staying at a luxurious resort like Vidanta. It was an amazing experience, the security and safety you feel is like no other. When we dropped our vehicle off at the central lobby they had police dogs sniffing luggage and vehicles and we were quite impressed especially since we had children and safety is a priority when traveling outside your home country. We were taken via golf cart to Jungala Hotel where we were greeted by respectable concierge staff with mimosas. Our room was beautiful spacious and clean- my daughter especially enjoyed the chocolates at turndown service and us adults loved the espresso machine. We only ate here on check in day because we are travelers not vacationers, food was on the pricier side but it was good. My daughter and I pool hopped one day and really enjoyed the beach club, this resort is huge and we opted to walk back to Jungala Hotel, we got lost a couple times and understood why the golf cart service to and from is necessary but the signage posted did help us find our way eventually. I also want to mention that the golf cart drivers work so hard and give great advice and details/history of the area. They also have laundry services on site which is very nice. Overall pleasant and beautiful experience and I see myself coming back here."
"Location wasn’t terrible, beach was tiny so don’t expect much in that department. Pool was fine even though the large pool was closed for construction and we didn’t know that. The food couldn’t have been worse, like legit it’s like making it bad on purpose so you don’t want much. And that’s at all “restaurants”. Rooms were a let down and don’t for a second think it’s luxury. But again food is terrible, probably better Mexican food in asia. Will not go back ever"
Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya - Gourmet by Karisma - All Inclusive
8/10 Good
"We stayed at Nickelodeon & had a wonderful vacation. The resort is beautiful, very family-friendly, and our kids loved the character experiences, water park, and pajama party. The staff was generally kind and helpful, and the rooms were clean and comfortable.
The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because of an uncomfortable experience related to a marketing presentation. We bought tickets to an experience and were later told that attending a membership presentation was required, which was not clearly explained when we originally agreed to the offer. On our last day, we felt pressured to attend the presentation and were repeatedly approached about it, even after expressing that we were not interested.
I understand that resorts offer vacation memberships, but I believe guests should be informed of all requirements upfront so they can make an informed decision. As parents traveling with young children, we did not want to spend part of our last vacation day in a sales presentation.
Aside from that experience, we truly enjoyed our stay and made great memories with our children. My advice to future travelers is to ask for all details and conditions before accepting any promotional offers."
Iberostar Selection Paraíso Maya Suites - All Inclusive
6/10 Okay
"This resort should be great, came highly recommended, and had the piece parts to be exceptional, but wasn’t for us.
Pros - rooms were nice and clean; pools and water parks were good and clean; food for breakfast and dinner was excellent; lots of carts to get around. Teen kids enjoyed the night club and games at the pool.
Cons - service wasn’t good. We’ve been all over Mexico and the Caribbean and this was likely the least friendly staff of any resort we’ve been to; upsold regularly which is annoying at an AI; no snacks in the rooms, just drinks; room service could be anywhere from 30m- 2h+; signage to navigate isn’t good; pool chairs were very difficult to come by and were packed in tight; beach was unusable due to sargossum.
Things to Know
- Resort is larger than you might think. Golf cart transport is plentiful to get places, but if you’re used to walking, plan on getting lots of steps. It’s also difficult to navigate.
- Maya and Lindo are essentially the same level of resort. Maya is listed as a higher level, but the two are virtually identical.
- There is no poolside service and limited food options at the pool itself. There are restaurants nearby, but don’t expect any food brought over to your chairs.
- Bring your own pool toys, inflatables, and sunscreen. The shop has things but it’s $20-40 for items that would be $5-10 elsewhere.
Hope this helps. It’s not bad, but there are better options like Fiesta America that are similar in price."
