Water leaking through our washroom ceiling at 6 am through a light fixture This set off a fire alarm throughout the building, people had to evacuate and the fire department arrived.

I don’t usually fill these surveys out, but I feel like I need to for this one. Despite the friendliness and professionalism of the front desk person, the accommodations offered at the Sandman Hotel in London ON, specifically room 510, were less than stellar. On the plus side, the linens were clean as was the bathroom, so the cleaning staff are obviously doing a decent job cleaning a very tired and worn room, but that only goes so far. The musty wet mop/damp basement odour was almost unbearable, there were water stains on the ceiling and the aging air conditioning unit is annoyingly loud. The carpets in the hallways are stained and dingy and the wallpaper near the elevator area is ripped and stained. Sorry, but it’ll take more than a few plug in air fresheners to cover up that smell. There is a chance that things will improve in the near future because they are in the process of renovating the hotel. The entire 6th floor was closed for this purpose, which is great for future guests, but for current guests it means no access to the ice machine. There may be better days ahead for the hotel, but I wouldn’t recommend it for now. The renos hold the hope that many of these issues will be resolved over the next few months, but if you’re considering staying in London anytime soon, I’d say you’d be better off giving this place a hard pass.
