The Marriott Marquis was a fantastic choice for our first trip to NYC. It is conveniently located within walking distance of all the major broadway theaters. Tons of great dining options in Times Square! Very nice hotel, and the staff is very helpful, especially for first timers to NY. They pointed us to a lot of sites we may not have even thought to visit otherwise. The only negative for this stay is the crowd outside when trying to enter or exit the hotel…it is Times Square though, so that should be expected. For any other first timers considering a stay in Times Square, get ready to say “No thank you” a LOT! Within 2 blocks of the hotel, there are a massive amount of people in Cosplay that will try and take pictures with you, and then try and charge you $20 for it…as well as bus tour operators trying to sell you tickets, and random monks putting bracelets on your wrist or necklaces and then demanding donations for them. All these folks can be a little pushy, but we found that an assertive “No thank you” works just fine. All that said, it was still a fantastic stay, and found the hotel to be a very safe and welcoming refuge from the hustle and bustle outside.
