We had a wonderful stay at Riverside Resort in Qualicum Beach. It is very family-friendly, and our detached one-bedroom cottage was comfortable and private. We especially enjoyed the firepit, barbecue, and outdoor dining area. The mini golf was a lot of fun, and the outdoor pool and waterslide were a big hit with the kids. It’s a great place for a relaxing family getaway!

For the price point we were expecting more, especially coming from The Parkside Hotel, Victoria, which was excellent and only a few dollars more. Parking was free but very tight and difficult to turn on a busy road. The bed had an iron frame and was noisy when turning at night. There were only blinds in the bedroom and in early July it was bright in the room from about 4:30 AM on. (A good curtain would take care of this.) There was only a small, inadequate table on one side only of the bed. On arrival, we discovered that we had to go to a nearby hotel to check in. For some reason we had not received this instruction. In short, we enjoyed Qualicum Beach but were disappointed, for the money it cost us, with the accommodation.
