Question 2

How much does a budget hotel in Ixtapa cost?

Accepted Answer

Budget hotel prices in Ixtapa vary, but you can find a great deal from CA $84 on Expedia. To find the cheapest budget hotels, be flexible with your dates—typically, off-peak and mid-week stays are cheaper. Stretch your budget further by looking for hotels with free breakfast, free parking or free airport shuttles. Sort your search results by "Price: low to high" to see our lowest rates.

Question 3

Which area of Ixtapa is best to stay in for cheap hotels?

Accepted Answer

For solo travellers looking for cheap hotels in Ixtapa, the area around the main boulevard, Paseo de Ixtapa, particularly slightly inland from the immediate beachfront, tends to offer more budget-friendly accommodation options. This area provides good access to local amenities without the premium price tag of a direct beachside property.

You'll find a selection of smaller hotels and guesthouses a short walk from the bustling commercial zones and public transport links. These spots often cater to independent travellers and provide a more authentic local experience. Being a little further back from the beach means you can still easily reach the sand and sea, but your lodging costs will be lower. Plus, exploring on foot or using affordable local colectivos (shared taxis) makes getting around easy and economical.

Question 4

When is the most affordable time to visit Ixtapa?

Accepted Answer

The most affordable time to visit Ixtapa is typically during the off-peak season, which runs from late April to early November. During these months, you'll find lower prices on accommodation and flights compared to the busy winter high season.

For solo travellers, this period offers a more relaxed atmosphere with fewer crowds, making it easier to secure deals on tours and activities. While it is the rainy season, showers are often brief and intermittent, leaving plenty of sunny hours to enjoy the beaches and local attractions.

Families travelling on a budget might also find this time advantageous, as many resorts offer special promotions and discounts to attract visitors. You can often find better rates on larger family rooms or even complimentary meals for children.
