This is the most dated Hilton of the 100s that I have stayed at. Looks like they bought an old beachside motel, built a tiki bar, put in a new dining room, and called it a day. Location is ok, right across from the beach, and the breakfast staff was very nice. Hilton prices for motel quality. Better options in Galveston.

The room was dirty (it's the only and signature "corner view balcony room") and the furniture was broken, scratched, bathroom mirror was rotten, red stains on the carpet (maybe from a dog :-() the door was loose, etc. We did complain very gentle at friont desc and later by e-mail, but no response from manager of duty. Next morning: NO warm water either in the shower or in bathroom. We did check-out: NEVER AGAIN a Doubletree by HILTON!!!!

The room I reserved was the corner balcony room and the website claimed it had a shower/tub combo, there was no tub. There was some else's pubic hair on the shower wall, but I didn't notice until I was actually IN the shower. The balcony didn't look half as nice as the picture online and the cushions on the furniture out there were covered in mold. The foot stool in the room was splitting open. There was no microwave in the room and no coffee stirrers. The best part about the room was opening the double doors and listening to the ocean waves crashing, and that it's within walking distance of the beach and restaurants. The staff were mostly friendly. Would be nice for the onsite restaurant to have gluten free options for those of us with allergies.

This is a great property that needs some touch ups and upkeep. We were a little surprised at the condition of the room, as it was a bit beat up and run down. The staff was, however, super courteous and willing to serve.

Generally grubby, 2 star place and 4 star price. Worst room in hotel. When asked to change the told us no other rooms even though place looked empty. To us it just appeared they could not be bothered?

Our hotel room was very old and in bad shape. Our outside door onto the balcony as well as our door going into the hotel hallway did not lock, and when we asked the front deskman for help with that we were told there was no more rooms available, and it is what it is. Then, to top it all off, our shower leaked SO BAD that the wall in the other room was soaked along with all the clothes and our suitcase on that wall. Again, told there's nothing we can do because they're booked. The elevator was so creaky and scary it felt unsafe, we reached out to Hilton for some sort of resolution and they won't respond to us. I don't recommend staying here.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The property is really nice and the view of the ocean was beautiful. There are bikes you can cruise on the hotel provides and the beach is easily accessible.

I booked 3 premium rooms on February 22nd. One room carpet was wet in front of bathroom, and the room wasn't dry properly, it was bad smell all over the room. I was traveling with family from New York, so I shared other rooms. Hilton is one of the top brand in hotel industry but this time I was disappointed.

I would not rent it again. The over view extra money was a waste. The white guy mean as heck didn’t even speak. The two blacks ladies at the desk were very nice and very helpful. They’re the only reason I’d go back. The young black guy was nonchalant he and the white guy could give a hoot. Dry customer service our first time there In Galveston and we selected this hotel thinking it was all that. But on our walk we found a better hotel next time we go and stay for a week

I used a credit card for incidentals upon check in. Do not use this card often. Immediately received a message from my credit card company that a small charge they approved, then larger charge for online gaming company was made. Credit card account closed. I cannot help but think there was an issue at check in... it's unfortunate. The staff seemed tired, the property seemed a bit worn. The microwave downstairs for customer use was old and gross inside. The snacks had airport prices.... sad, as we'd hoped for better with all of the other reviews we'd seen online...

Overall our stay was OK, not great. Definitely over priced. If you stay here, please make sure you check your bank or credit card accounts. They have charged our card for $31.65. No one seems to know why, there is nothing on our receipts that show this amount. We did not bill anything to our room, but the charge still remains. I spoke with the lady at check out and she assured me any extra charges on hold would be released. The extra charge was still there when all the other holds dropped, so I called the hotel. The man I spoke with looked through our charges and couldn’t find the charge or why it was taken out. He told me to call back the next morning and speak with the manager, Will. So, I called back the next morning and spoke with Will. Apparently Will is not a manager, he covered the mouth of the phone and was asking others why I was told to call him (like I couldn’t hear him). He acted like he was trying to help me but kept cover the mouth of the phone and talking to others. He finally comes back and says he can not find the charge or why it was taken from my account. He tells me he will have to call me back, 3 days later and still no phone call. They may not think $30 is a lot but it’s not about the amount of money, it’s the fact we are being charged for nothing. Just be careful and make sure your charges are accurate and that they didn’t take out too much!!!!

How cold was it?
The resturant in the hotel was not open for dinner contrary to information I obtained during a phone call to verify restaurant. The pool bar, wrapped in heavy plastic, was open. We entered and waited to be seated. No employee approached us or seated us. We left with the plan to not return to this hotel again.
