If it’s your first time traveling during the COVID-19 pandemic, you’ll notice a host of new rules and restrictions in place. Follow these tips and make your journey to Georgia go off without a hitch:
- Research if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before booking anything. Also check if there are any conditions you’ll need to follow on arrival, such as installing a contact tracing app.
- When you pass through airport checkpoints, keep your face mask on. You will be required to briefly lower it to verify your identity. Those who refuse to wear a mask may face civil penalties and may also be denied boarding.
- To reduce the potential of cross-contamination, place your boarding pass on the reader yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your pass directly to a TSA employee.
- TSA is now allowing passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on bags. This will have to be removed from your bag for screening.
- To reduce handling during screening, place personal items such as your wallet, phone and belt into your carry-on instead of the bins.
- If you’re bringing food on the plane with you, put it in a clear plastic bag and then into a scanning bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA officer will need to touch your food container or carry-on bag for inspection.
