"This is a real no-frills hotel. Staff isn't fluent in English and the entire facility is really dated. Rooms are sparse and more suited to migrant workers instead of travelers. The breakfast consisted of bagels and white bread and a selection of three dry cereals. The parking lot was strewed with building materials and yellow crime scene tape. I'm not sure where the photos were taken, but they don't reflect the current facility. This is a noisy location."

"Everything was going great until we left to enjoy the area for a couple hours. Cleaning staff, kids yelling and a bunch of clanking going on apparently was stressing my shih-tzus. They did start barking. I was called and told there had been multiple complaints about their barking. This is a pet friendly hotel, and others dogs were barking during our stay. I do believe one guest probably complained a couple times, enough to take your fifth star away. My fun was cut short, and I ended up staying in my room listening to banging and kids screaming for the remainder of my stay. I paid a pet deposit, in a pet friendly hotel. I would have expected that those with pets would have been put in locations with other pet owners, not near some anti-pet moron, calling because of some minor barking due to the other noises being generated near our room. Hey, dogs bark. Otherwise it was a nice place, good breakfast, good location. O"

"Food’s on you For my 80th birthday, we decided to splurge and stay in a suite at Chetola resort from Monday to Friday. When booking, we were warned that the restaurant would not open until Thursday – the birthday - and made a reservation for that night. The concierge said that “bar food”, such as hamburgers, would be available all the other nights, and breakfast, while not included, every morning. Not true. No bar food the night we arrived or any other night, although the desk personnel didn’t seem to know it and even promised us a menu. We expressed our frustration and were comped a breakfast, at which we learned future breakfasts were out, and our dinner was in question. They’d let us know “in a minute.” Four hours later, we learned we’d have to go elsewhere. Our refrigerator didn’t work, and all the ice machines were broken, so nothing that could spoil. The cleaner offered to bring us cold cokes from the vending machine. The house phone didn’t work. We still heard a lot of excuses. Blowing Rock is beautiful, with lots to do, and we had a great vacation. Chetola is beautiful. Our room is beautiful. We could see waterfowl and planets from our balcony. We enjoyed the large indoor swimming pool, and others may enjoy the hot tub and spa amenities. Hopefully, management will get their act together and solve the problems, but first, stop misleading guests."

"The entire stay was pleasant. Clean room, very pleasant staff, breakfast had a lot of choices like hot eggs, sausage, pancakes and waffles as well as various pastries and beverages. One negative is that the pool water was very cloudy even tho it had a high bleach odor."

"Loved this quiet cabin. Me and the grandkids loved the cabin and creek. Hot tub was broken, but the owner offered us to use the one next door at his other cabin. That was amazing. I definitely recommend this cabin. One thing I would Do is add curtains on the back doors in the living room."

"This cabin was just like described. The inside was very cute and clean. All the decorations made it feel like a cabin. It is a very private and secluded cabin. There's a fire pit, grill, trail, and hot tub for entertainment. You're not too far from Boone if you want something more to do. It just takes about 30 minutes and part of that is driving on dirt roads. We had a great time. The only thing I would say is the outside needed a good dusting, but cute and quaint."
