Best Western Plus Belize Biltmore Plaza

"The rooms are clean and recently renovated. It’s a conference center with many foreign travelers. Rooms are comfortable and we were able to get connecting rooms. The onsite restaurant servers food. They charge a 12.5% service fee for all food and beverage. This leads to slow service from some staff members. I typically tip 20% but would like have tipped 10% or less based on the service received at lunch. One exception is Denise…she was great at dinner service! Important note regarding the amenities: The property had a swim team practice in the pool when we arrived (from about 1-3pm). The hotel sells gym memberships to locals and there were at least 20 people in the gym between 5pm and 6pm. I went to the gym at 6:30am and most of the 10-12 people using the gym were not hotel guests. It’s fine, but may limit hotel guest access to equipment. We stayed at 3 other properties during this trip in Belize and this was my least favorite."

Ramon's Village Resort

"The resort is in the middle of San Pedro Town, but feels like a private enclave with jungle like vegetation around the entrance and interior of the property. It is very well maintained and clean. The sargassum was bad while we were there. The poor maintenance guys were fighting a Sisyphean battle to keep the beach clean. The food at Pineapples is fine, but not noteworthy. Service at restaurant is friendly, but food service is very slow, even when not busy. The Sunday buffet was a disappointment, but not expensive. Stayed in a beachside thatched roof unit that was clean (mostly, the beveled sink in the bathroom had thick sticky scum all around it). It was roomy and well laid out and had a nice balcony overlooking the ocean. It was very windy while we were there and small bits of something fell from the thatch all over the place. Also, assuming due to the wind, the AC could not keep up and it was uncomfortably hot in the room. It wasn't as windy the first 4 nights and temp was fine. The last two were pretty uncomfortable. We did a full day Caye Caulker snorkel and had a great time. This was actually the highlight of our stay. Sammy was our guide. He was engaging, knowledgeable and funny. He was in the water with us and was very attentive to our safety. The boat was large and it was comfortable despite the considerable chop from the wind. Resort was perfect location during lobsterfest, with great restaurants and the block party all within walking distance."

Zenses Hotel in Caye Caulker

"The staff, Leslie, Sophie, Jamil and others were very friendly and helpful. Room 201 is my room now. I will return and request it. The balcony is huge and the decor is tranquil. I liked the modern decor. I appreciated the frequent ferry schedule to the South side. I also like the location of the property being close to places like Bliss beach. I wished though that Zenses maintained their beach. The seaweed smelled and kept one from being close to the water. I was awakened at 6 in the morning to drilling being done by maintenance and they never fixed my room safe as requested. Overall, I had a great experience."
