I stayed here for one night before an early morning flight out of SMF. The room appeared clean and well-maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout my stay. That said, there was a strong, unpleasant odor in the room that I couldn't really get past. While everything looked clean visually, the smell definitely affected the overall experience. Another inconvenience was that there was no hair dryer in the room. I had to go to the front desk, leave my ID, and borrow one from the office. It wasn't a major issue, but it was less convenient than having one already available in the room. Overall, the stay was manageable and served its purpose as an affordable place to stay before an early flight. The friendly staff was a plus, but the odor in the room and the hair dryer situation kept the experience from being better.

I would stay here again. Loved the location in Old town Sacramento. Shopping was amazing. Room was a typical smallish ship stateroom. Restaurant was good. I was awakened in the wee hours by barking Sea Lions. They provide ear plugs, but I thought it was uniquely charming and annoying all at the same time.

The place I usually stay at when I visit was full so I picked this one, as it is close-ish to downtown and gets good reviews. What I couldn’t tell from the photos is that this is a converted motel. You walk through a lobby, but then out doors to your room. If you’re on the second floor, you’re lugging your bags up stairs. The rooms are updated, and it seemed clean but there was a hair in the tub which is always a little gross. I didn’t like that the bathroom sink area is open to the room so you can’t wash your hands or do anything at the sink without waking up the whole room. A door should be added. Also, the TV made no sense. The channels were not correct and the guide didn’t work. My son is on the news there and I wanted to watch but we could never find the correct channel. And could not get streaming to work, so couldn’t watch a movie or anything. That was frustrating. The staff were nice, but we stayed 3 nights and there was zero room cleaning. That also surprised me. I know it went away with Covid, but most places I have been staying in the past year or 2 have room service again. So overall, it’s a 3* stay for me. It was fine. I should note that the bed was pretty comfortable (and I’m very picky), and the pillows were also good. I wouldn’t necessarily choose to stay here again, but would in a pinch.
