"Affordable stay in the heart of Rome"
The location of the hotel is in the prime spot of Rome, which is close to a lots tourist attractions (i.e. Termini station, coffee shops, restaurants, etc.). That being said, it was walking distance to Termini, which was the main source of transportation for my trip. 12 Euros for a 48hr Metro pass and 7 Euros for a 24h metro pass (pick your poison). Very convenient hotel location and free continental breakfast. Woo!

Hotel Fontana

Piazza Di Trevi 96, Rome - Map
"Great location, nice hotel, nice staff."
We originally booked a standard room that was in the back and had a shower that was very small. We were offered a upgrade and shown the room to see if we would like it. They were very pleasant and did not pressure or try to sell us, just offered it if we would like it. We decided to take the room which had a view of the fountain and a very nice bath with a tub. It was well worth the additional charge and I would highly recommend it. The staff was very accommodating and provided us with restaurant suggestions that were excellent, not tourist rip offs which are abundant in Rome.

Hotel Colosseum

"Tiny, but nice."
Very clean. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was small but very functional. My only complaints are that the room was VERY small, and closet space was very limited. There was no room for a chest of drawers in the room, so we had to live out of suitcases. The staff were very friendly and always there to help arrange tours, cars, etc. Location is nice.

Hotel Raffaello

Via Urbana 3/5, Rome - Map
"Fantastic hotel, close to most of the main sight."
Before our break we received an email from the hotel offering collection from the airport, this was a few Euro's more than the fixed price taxi's but sounded an easy option as our time in Rome was limited with plenty to see in a couple of day's. As soon as we walked out of customs we were greeted by our driver and while everyone else was making their way to the train or negotiating the local Taxi drives we were already on our way to the hotel. Arriving at the Raffaello 4 hours before our check in time was not an issue for them at all & they were very accommodating, offering us a selection of fresh croissants, juice's, tea or coffee, free WiFi password, toilets & told we could leave our bags safely with them and start exploring the city. Due to the ease of all this so far we were exploring the city within an hour of leaving the airport. Quickly it became clear that we were within walking distance of The Colosseum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain (to be fair the only sight we didn't walk to was the Vatican, everything else was accessed on foot). Returning to the Hotel, we were nicely greeted by all the staff and told that our bags were already in our room, the room itself was a far better than we had expected for the money we had paid, so comfortable we actually fell asleep for a few hours before going out again. The room was well made every day by the staff. Buffet breakfast was exactly what was needed and they recommended and booked a perfect restaurant for our anniversary.
