"Decent location and price"
Staff was helpful and friendly. Good location-just across bridge from downtown. Walkable. Beds were comfortable, shower decent. Parking available. The club across the street was no bother. Clean.(Bleach smell was a bit strong when we first got to the 2nd floor room-opened the window to clear) No frills, but comfortable stay.

"OK to stay"
Reasonable experience although the hotel is in dire need of an overhaul. It appears they are maintaining an 80s theme. Wifi was a major problem as I could not get on over the course of three days. Front desk minimal help when it came to this. Gave me a number to call then it turned out I need a ID number to call the help desk. Bar staff were a couple of decent guys working there. Food was actually ok as the bartender and cook were able to answer questions. Prices reasonable. The bar area apparently was an old disco from years back and it shares the same area as breakfast restaurant. Breakfast was a hot meal which actually most people seemed to like. Bacon sausage eggs and roasted potatoes. Rooms are large but dated. I could actually figure out the heat/aircon control which I have found in some hotels to be a problem. I found it was relatively easy to find place to eat in the immediate area of the hotel. Train (tram) is right outside. the hotel.

"OK Motel Close to downtown."
Easy walk to downtown. The room part of the room looked newly remodeled and the king bed was comfortable. The bathroom was quite old and worn but was clean. Friendly, helpful staff. We were able to arrive before check in and park our car, saving the hassle of downtown driving and paying to park.

Howard Johnson Portland Airport

"Service makes the difference!"
I was looking for a hotel that could transport my husband and me to the Portland Airport and that was reasonably priced. We hadn't stayed in a Howard Johnson in many years but this one was in the right proximity. Upon checking in, we learned that our room was on the 3rd floor and there was no elevator. However, Vance and Aaron (I think Aaron was the other clerks name) went out of the way to make us comfortable. They offered to carry our luggage to our room or to store it overnight at the office. They gave us directions and recommendations for places to shop and to eat upon our request. We returned our rental car the evening before our flight and required the shuttle to transport us from the airport to the hotel. Vance promptly picked us up (and several other guests) and transported us. He was very pleasant, helpful and enjoyable. The decor of the hotel is somewhat dated and our room was clean and comfortable but a bit dated also, but these two young men make up for any weakness with the room. Additionally, the morning shuttle driver (name escapes me) was also very pleasant and helpful.

Shilo Inn Rose Garden - Oregon

"Great staff, good location, but not noise proof"
Pros: Staff was polite, kind and informative. Location was perfect for a trip to the convenience store and a 5min walk to the Oregon Convebtion Center. Their parking lot was free too. Cons: $130 a night for this hotel seemed too high. Sure it was decent, but nothing about it was fancy. The "continental breakfast" was just oatmeal and bagels (without cream cheese), disappointing. And the noise was irritating. At night you can't sleep because the fridge clicks on and off. The doors jiggle from air pressure or vibration every time someone else shuts thier door or exits the side door. And you hear voices from the hallway. Bathroom was super small but still functional and clean. For a room this tiny, it should be a lot less. I've had a room much bigger for less of a price. All in all, it serves it's purpose. It's close to the convention center, close to stores, and the beds are comfy and king sized.
