"Budget friendly hotel in Rose district"
Our room was ready before check in time, and staff was friendly and helpful. There was plenty of free parking in the private hotel lot. We were able to leave our car at the motel and walk to the Moda center/coliseum. The continental breakfast was basic but that's not why I chose that motel. The room was clean and we were able to get a good night's sleep. I would stay there again.

"Good stay"
We have stayed here before, it is centrally located and is usually quiet and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast is much better than the usual continental ones that most supply.

Jupiter Hotel

My boyfriend and I stayed two nights (Fri and Sat) in a lobu room near the bar patio. Our 1 mile walk from downtown to the hotel went over the river and through a part of town that used to be car lots and warehouses but is now boutiques selling designer socks and hip places like The Jupiter. We arrived before 4pm check-in, so we left luggage at the counter and walked around town. The staff were extremely friendly and there were apples and art to enjoy. They explained that our room was located over the bar patio and near some bachelorette parties, so they could move us to another room if we liked. We stayed with our original room choice and it was very nice. Never heard any noise from the adjacent rooms even though the bar did turn out to be quite loud until it closed each night at 2 AM. The room had a comfy platform queen bed with white feather bedding. Also in the cozy room were a flat screen TV, modern armchair, pendant lamp, LED reading lamp on each side of the bed, nightstands, an issue of Dwell magazine and a local travel magazine, air conditioner-heater, and a broken alarm clock. Also a complimentary condom and earplugs. A cheerful mural of bamboo graced one wall and over the headboard was a large mirror. The bathroom had green toiletries, ice bucket, hairdryer and a bar sink. Clean, white towels and shower curtain. Water pressure was good and it was always hot. When running a bath, the water was orange and had sediment. Even after emptying tub and running water again.

University Place Hotel & Conference Center

"Not too shabby"
The University Place Hotel is not by any means the most glamorous or updated hotel in Portland. However, what it lacked in decor and technology, it more than made up for in location and price. I will start by saying that my friend traveling with me and I are not high maintenance in any sense. Our top priorities are a warm, safe, clean place to stay in a convenient location (free breakfast is a plus). Upon check in, the desk staff were friendly and helpful. Luckily, we were given one of the rooms that enters through the outside, because on the first walk inside the actual hotel halls to the room, there was an unpleasant cabbage odor that freaked us both out a little. And despite the hotel being non-smoking, there appeared to be a smoky appearance (no accompanying smoke odor) in the hallway. This disappeared on our second and consecutive days. The room we stayed in was spotless. My friend and I were both amazed at how close to downtown the hotel was (approx a 10 minute walk). Food trucks are loca The orange Max line stops right in front of the hotel and can take you into downtown in a matter of minutes. (It's only $5 to ride all day and could not be easier to use). The free continental breakfast did not vary in the 5 days my friend and I were there; however, the options were adequate (the usual cold items along with eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, and local coffee). For young(ish), active travelers who spend little time in the hotel room, I definitely recommend!

"Good position Portland Convention Center"
OK place, very good service, room was next to noisy street, ceiling peeling. Very good value for money. A little touch up would easily bump it up a level in ranking.
