"Great resort."
This is a wonderful resort. It is older but the rooms are spacious, the decks (I had one facing the ocean) are large, and the facility and landscaping are very nice. The place is absolutely spotless. The restaurant sits right next to the beach and is open air and had pretty green tablecloths. It is very nice and the food I ate was good. Breakfast of pancakes and fruit was great as well as the American breakfast. I didn't use the buffet. The wifi worked well in the room. NO English channels on TV. The pool area is nice. The beach area with the palapas is very nice. The rocking chairs in the open air lobby area were nice when once wanted to sit and read. Workers were always cleaning the walkways, the beach, the floors. The place was perfect! The grounds are nice. Three pools. I will go back.

"A great hotel for anyone who wants to have fun!"
My husband and I were in desperate need of a relaxing, poolside vacation with no worries and El Cid was everything we wanted that we didn't even know we wanted. The minute we dropped our bags, we roamed around to see what was available and Martin at the Lobby Bar kept the ice cold Pacifcos coming. We did the all-inclusive, so we spent a little time finding the ala carte dinner restaurants and booking our reservations for the week. Not all of the restaurants operate daily so we were happy we did this early on. If buffet is more your style, that's offered for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the dinner themes change nightly and include a show. This resort is DEFINITELY family friendly, and there were a lot of children around. The pools are both adult and child friendly- there are waterslides, rocks to jump off, lifeguards, and swim up bars for the adults. We spent a lot of time reading by the pool and the staff (especially Carlos!) were super friendly and attentive and treated us like old friends. The activities staff were very involved, with poolside activities going from about 10-4 and included things like bingo, zumba, water aerobics, and my favorite- the Crazy Game, which one day involved a pool full of water balloons. There are also a couple of quieter pools if that is more your scene but you have to work a little harder to find them. The bottom line is, if you want to relax and have fun, there is something for everyone here.

"Great visit at El Cid Marina"
We were in Mazatlan for 16 days and our only regret was not staying at the El Cid Marina for the whole visit. We spent the first two weeks in other resorts and the final 2 days at Marina. If we ever return to Mazatlan, we'd stay only at the Marina. It was beautiful, quiet, very clean and the staff were very prompt, friendly and helpful. We found the other resorts to be much too loud and the rooms tired and dated. Our Marina room was only a junior suite but it was very bright with plenty of room and a great balcony overlooking the ocean and harbour. The heated pool was wonderful!

"The Old Holiday Inn"
I have stayed here before and thought it wonderful, so my return is no surprise. The staff could not possibly have been any more helpful or friendly. And for this traveler that is the most important thing when being in a foreign country. I always felt secure, safe and welcome. It is an older hotel, yet the location is so much better that the new ones further north, as I could walk to many good restaurants. An overall very pleasant experience.

"Emporio - Nice hotel by the beach"
I was surprised about the overall impression of this hotel, is right at the beach with nice pools, also a nice restaurant and very close to everything. My trip was a little bit of both relax and business and I accomplished ALL.

"The best staff from Mexico!"
We stay at EL MORRO hotel from 1st - 9th March. The hotel is not that great, the rooms are an older version of Mexico, but clean and the hotel personal are very friendly and pleasant, especially Jose from the front desk and the activity people Hans, Angelika and Ruben. The restaurant are good, especially La Concha and the shows from La Pergola are really nice to watch. They play every night something different, my daughter( 21 months) really enjoyed the Disney show. If you don't have to many expectations from the hotel and you go to have fun you really enjoy staying at El Morro. If I have to go again to Mazatlán I will definitely choose this hotel. Thanks for the great time EL MORRO!

"'Can hardly wait to return!"
Wonderful & attentive staff, good beds & clean rooms, and reasonable rate for ocean-view room with hot breakfast. Noise was a concern as noted by other travellers, but we didn't have a problem (...a little toleration & a room on the 8th floor) Centrally located for easy walking in the Historic Zone, close to Archeological Museum, the market, several plazas & the Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Inexpensive pulmonias took us everywhere else. We stayed 10 days in late March/early April, and will definitely return!

"Will Definitely Go Back"
I recently stayed at an enormous resort in Playa del Carmen that was so big and impersonal. My stay at the Royal Villas was more intimate and friendly. The staff were all so nice...the room was clean and had a beautiful ocean view...I was very impressed. Will definitely be going back!

"Only downside was lots of (happy) noise"
We had an oceanfront room and it was lovely, we could hear the waves and it was very pretty. The staff was wonderful, very friendly and eager to help/please. They were respectful and polite, even when we got confused and thought we had vouchers for the buffet breakfast (we only had vouchers to cover the Americano style breakfast)...and they didn't charge us for the food we already had put on our plates from the buffet! I am a light sleeper however, and the traffic noise, music from nearby clubs, etc. was too much for me, even with the door closed and the fan on high. My husband slept fine, tho...and I can't say enough about the cleanliness and up-to-date style of the hotel. We did not go to the spa but laid by the pool (which has a cute little water slide for wee ones) and thoroughly enjoyed that. Everything was fairly close to walk to, and if you didn't want to walk, the pulmonia and taxi drivers are very attentive.
